Would love to see these installed.

So if I understand it correctly, these angle the grips downwards without moving the bars down and away from you like clip-ons do?

I like the idea of being able to tuck down more easily, without my hands going into a "praying hamster" position.

I've thought about clip-ons, but I'm a road rider only and like my ergonomics pretty much as they are. I question the long-term comfort of clip-ons.

Yes, just as you said it.. thats correct.

the angle gives you a more racing feel, without having the clip ons.

I have had some on my bike a week, it brings me more in tune with the bike, more comfatable when leaning into turns, and good for tucking..

it was strange the first time out, but it really grew on me after an hour and i prefere it compaired to the stock angle.

here are some pics. ( i was just taking them for a test run to see how they feel, but have decided to keep, so i will be getting them Anodied to match.)

Its hard to capture the exact angle in the pics, but there Really is a BIG difference.

WITHOUT:

WITH:

here you can see the difference, 1 on 1 off.

Hope this helps you.!

ThaiNinja, I realize that English is your second language so for anyone reading this thread permit me to clarify what these appear to do.

They don't raise the bars up. What they do is rotate the bars so they are less horizontal than stock. This has the effect of lowering the grip, even though the bar mounts are indeed a bit higher.

To see this, compare the two rear views and focus on the right hand grip relative to the mirror.

Unlike clip-ons, these do not move the bars forward or down.

They do look like a nice ergonomic tweak!

i did send a Reply in regard to this question about 10mins ago, but is does not seem to be here... strange..

Anyway.. Yes, you can have these in Black (takes a few days to get them Anodied)

i do accept Paypal, althought i do prefere Western Union & Wire Transfere.

if you want to use paypal, you will need to pay the fee's, and also wait for the funds to be released to me. (aprx 5-7days) Paypal so slow..

Western Union is Instant Delivery & Wire Transfere 1-2days. much faster.

Overall, if you chose paypal, there is a longer wait due to them being so slow..
Hope this helps..!

Oops! Apologies!

Occupational hazard... I'm a writer by trade.

The thing about "raising your bars a little" is a bit misleading, since while it does raise the mounts up (and therefore the inner part of the bar), the part of the bar that you hold -- the grip -- is actually lower. Obviously I don't have first-hand experience, but this is clear to me from the pictures.

In other words, rotating the bar does raise one end a little, but at the same time it lowers the other end.

I won't do a writeup right away. In past professional lives I've done product reviews as part of my job, and one thing I learned to be wary of is placebo effect. It's easy to notice a difference when you make a change, but it's a lot harder to quantify and qualify it properly.

To draw proper conclusions you need to live with a product for awhile.

So I expect that I'll notice a big difference in feel, but I want to make sure I describe it properly. While waiting for them to arrive, I'm paying a lot of attention to the ergonomics of the stock bike so I'll have a baseline.

What you could do Andrew is give us first your initial impression. It may be a little biased due to placebo but that is when the ergonomics of the stock bars is still fresh in your mind. Later on you can add more things as time goes on and you get more used to it. I think that would be most helpful for everyone.

OK, should mention... these are now OUT OF STOCK. the initial test load of 50pcs has all been sold..

So here is what i am going to do... i will wait for some positive reviews and requests before i machine any more.

Just to make sure these will be popular.

If i do get positive feedback and people asking for them i will Machine a Masive load.
This time think i will also have my Logo on the side...

So lets wait and see what happens here..
Cheers guys!!

Just bought a set with the Shinto Rear sets. They are sold out right now but was told that hes gunna make more now and that it should only take about 10 days to make another batch. Im pretty excited and will post up my reviews along with Andrew. I'll probably ride with the risers for a little first then throw on the rear sets.

Installed.

Took less than ten minutes. The stock bolts have a lot of threadlocker (blue) on them, so I had to put an extension (a changeable-bit screwdriver handle) on the Allen wrench to get a bit more leverage, but no problems.

Rode back to work, which is about 20 miles, two-thirds suburban streets/roads and one-third parkway.

Immediate impressions: The bike is at least 5 mph faster and fuel economy has improved by 3 mpg!

Seriously.... They do make a noticeable change that I like. They do more or less what I'd hoped for at speed... my hands are still up high and close in when I'm tucked, but my wrists are rotated thumbs-up a bit.

The change is not dramatic, but it is noticeable.

Handling is, of course, the same.

So overall, a nice, relatively inexpensive ergonomic tweak. These are not poor-man's clip-ons. They do not move the bars forward or down. All they do is change the angle of the grip.

On the way home from work tonight I noticed another nifty thing, but this would really only apply to someone my size.

When I'm semi-tucked on the freeway, the arm position I now have makes it easy to park my elbows on my knees, which lets me take all the weight off of my hands.

Liking the improved wrist angle so far.

If you have weight on your hands you're doing it wrong.
I ride a zx6r and the only time there is weight on my hands is while braking.

As for the spacers, looks like a great idea

So you're saying that at no time, EVER except for braking, are you putting ANY weight on your hands? You could take your hands off the bars at any moment?

I'm not saying I lean hard on my wrists... clearly wrong. And yeah, I can remove all the weight from my hands when I want to by holding my torso up with my core muscles.

But leaning way over ALL the time without actually leaning ON something? Hmmm.

When I'm fully tucked I can lean on the tank. But when I'm not all the way over, I can't.

When I sat on some supersports last week (see the sportbike ergonomics thread) I found that I could remove the weight from my wrists by leaning my belly against the tank in what (for those bikes) is a normal riding position... semi-tucked. The 250 doesn't lend itself to that for whatever reason.

So can I, but maintaining that at all times? NEVER EVER putting any weight on your hands?

If I sit up far enough and slide forward in the seat then I can do that easily. But the farther over I lean, and the more I shove my butt back, the more effort it takes until I have something to rest on. You have to hold yourself up somehow, right?

Okay, something to think about. I'll have to try a ride where I'm paying a lot of attention to that and see what it's like.

Personally I find that while I may not be putting much weight at all on my hands. I do have SOME, however small.

As in, if the bars were to suddenly vanish I wouldn't do a face-plant on the tank, but I would lurch forward a little. With ZERO weight on my hands, the bars could disappear and I wouldn't notice.

I also move around a lot to avoid cramps and monkeybutt. So sometimes I'll put more weight on my feet, or my butt, or yes, my hands.

Still liking them a lot. I don't notice they're there, which is really good... it means that the bike fits me better.

Position-wise, they put you in what I'd call a sport-touring posture. The stock bars are those of a "standard" bike. A sport-tourer is more aggressive, but not like a supersport.

They're living up to my hopes for them.
