Good work.

I don't think most of us were 'doubters', we were just saying the trip would be more enjoyable spread out over a couple of days.

Hopefully on the return leg you will have more time to stop and enjoy the scenery.

I don't know what to believe;

Not a stop, two stops for gas (wasted money on high test, as always).
My ass hurts, easy so far. Do you like it when your ass hurts?
Lots of hours, not even half way!

I know you can do it but I like the fun way!

Good luck! You have the easy part ahead of you.

Done that

I rode my 2007 250 to Daytona and back from Ohio also went to Moto Gp and BMW Rally in New York that year.

Couple of things come to mind.
A) There's no substitute for seat time building up your endurance. It's 957 to Daytona from Ohio. Certainly doable in a day (16 hours or maybe little more) but you don't just get on and do it without building some endurance.
B) Check the IBA (iron Butt Assn' ) website. They have a Wisdom section a list of do's and don'ts when preparing for a thousand mile ride.
C) Set your bike up properly. By that I mean get a Corbin or at least an air hawk so after your third tankful you can put your butt on the seat.
Get a water delivery system Walmart has them cheap. Put water in and suck it out via hose with valve. Keep hydrated.. Get one of those simple, cheap and unbelievably awesome throttle controls shown in a video here. I have one, like twenty bucks and it works every bit as good as a throttlemeister.
D) Every tankful spend a few minutes after filling up to walk around checking things on bike especially the tires and any tell tale signs of leaks and what not. Gives you exercise and also a chance to check the bike over.
E) The 250 Ninja is very capable of distance traveling just in a smaller platform. GO HAVE FUN, Take some pictures and post up when you get there.

BTW Corbin has a shop in Ormond Beach if you're around that way..Good Luck. Wardie

Wardie, where ya been?

I rode to Daytona. It was no big deal. I didn't even get tired and I never stopped (maybe for a light or two but that's it). I get tired of hearing about you wusses who can't take it.

Hey CC Cowboy I've been around just not much on Ninjette site. Sold my red 07' and finally a year or so later bought a new 2012 250. The boys I run with hate it if it's not 1000 or more. Picking bike up Thursday a couple of oil changes and maybe 600 miles she should be okay to travl but must keep rpms down.

I am qualifying Saturday and racing Sunday at Pittsburgh International Raceway in Pa if you're in the area stop by. Wardie

It's good to hear from you. Good luck this weekend. I'll be in New England cooling off with some beer and lobsta. I never get to the Pitts. Harrisburg is as far as I go unless I'm headed way out west.

Rumor has it he got busted in Georgia with an underage little boy riding bitch. When he was asked who the kid was he answered he bought the kid in South Carolina for $50. The kid doesn't speak english but keeps motioning his ass hurts. They are trying to get an interpeter to get to the bottom of this.

I remember Jesse James there mentioning his ass hurt too. I'm not sure who is doing who but it must be a NY thing or he needs a new seat. Who knows!

That's not what I heard.. I saw on the news that a rider riding the same type of bike, matching description etc.. Was seen swerving out of a Pennsylvania strip club at 1pm and was tailed by law enforcement for a full mile before they were able to catch him. He was arrested with DUI charges and after a brief scuffle the officer was able to get him into the squad car.

At the station he was acting confused, couldn't remember his name or where he was going, and a blood test showed positive for cocaine and stripper asshole funk.

He better report back quickly because this is escalating rapidly...

Um um, okay enough with the back on topic.

I love taking long rides on the bike and finding the outer limits of my personal endurance. Its a fun activity to try out and getting out further and further is really exciting.
Fishdip

As for the OP,

Missed the rest of this, so you've set out & not been heard from again...
Did he think it would be a good idea to stop in banjo country

Take your time, take regular enough breaks, stretch a bit when you get off to fuel up or rest.

The backpack will have to be properly adjusted or it will really become a pain (ex soldier here, believe me when I tell you a poorly loaded & adjusted pack can screw you up big time, a properly adjusted one barely feels like it's there, getting it right so it fits well on you when you're on the bike will make a serious difference)

Wear earplugs, the whistling/white noise you get from wind passing your helmet is a major cause of fatigue.

I've never done a thousand miles in a single sitting, I've done it in a weekend on a few occasions, pretty much all back roads/surface streets

I've also gone the full way across the UK after work, hopped on a boat & done the full way across Ireland when I disembarked then back again a few days later on a couple of occasions, they were on the 250, with a pack & riding to a schedule (to catch the ferry)

I'm starting to think that dude didn't make it. 1,000 miles is a lot in one day, a lot of things that could go wrong.

I looked up accidents on 95 for Sunday and no report of a motorcycle going down so I'm sticking with the underage boy arrest.

If you have a valid operator or chauffeur license, you are allowed to operate a moped on public roadways. If you do not have a valid operator or chauffeur license and are at least age 15, you may apply for a moped license at a Secretary of State branch office. You are not eligible for a moped license if your operator or chauffeur license is suspended, revoked, or denied-unless the suspension is for a medical reason.

I hope he was somewhat of a regular at this forum because when he returns, if he is not used to the elevated levels of horse manure and crassity, the degenerates in this thread will surely scare him off for good.

Yeah crassity is the word of the day that I have introduced to the english language. To be crass, is to be crass. High levels of crassness equate to crassity.

Degenerates! The whole lot of ya!

And he said he was an older fellow (40+) who had made the trip several times before..

And he check in half way saying he was napping in the grass with a sore ass and a mexican boy?

Is that why he ended up in the strip club? Or was that a rumor? Can anyone actually confirm that fact?

I don't remember him saying he was 40+, based on his pictures (and the fact he's trying to make florida in a single night) I'd guess 19-21ish. I can't even imagine making this trip in a car in a single night. We did it as kids sure, but had other drivers to pass the wheel to. Can't imagine being on a small Ninja on I-95 for 1000 miles to save a few bucks on a motel, seems like misery, hope he's ok.

Stay Friendly Guys NevadaWolf is right. Everyone helps.
I blocked him after he tried to justify the Holocaust & slaughtering civilians wholesale.

Around the same time dragged an ethioknight memorial thread into am argument.

**** him he's a useless ****

What is going on here. There's a missing person, a moral debate about the societal implications of being a member on this forum and how it should affect your behavior, now there's something about the holocaust, the mexican boy is still floating around in here, and this guy claims he put 5 gallons of petrol into someone's vehicle?

Who in their right mind offers up five free gallons of fuel? I could understand offering up one gallon, but five? You must be balling.

So are we legitimately concerned for the safety of this fellow or are we just pretending to be so this thread keeps going?

According to my research, 2300 americans go missing each day. If he went missing that long ago, chances are he will be permanently missing. Unless I'm missing something.

It's obvious that the OP is missing. Where he's gone missing to is anyone's guess, but I'm kind of thinking you're right and that he might be missing permanently... Somebody get this guys photo on a milk carton or something.

Do you think the parties at either his departure or arrival destinations might be concerned yet?

I mean, come on. I am definitely a lone wolf, not dabbling in the social realm much -- but if I didn't come home for a day or two, I guarantee my cat would alert the local authorities of my disappearance.

Not balling. but I rather know the person makes it to the gas station. Not every place has a 24h gas station or one every 20 miles.
