Nice! Thanks guys I appreciate looking out for me. I wouldn't say the sidecases are perfectly aligned either... based on the joker that installed them! LOL

Here's another picture that should help. Notice the mirrors are similar and so are the fairings. It's not perfect but it appears much closer.

It is a little taller, not much but I haven't measured... Maybe an inch if I had to guess.

James: Do you plan on leaving yours flat black or are you gonna PC or paint it to match the front. I'm still unsure how to handle mine because I hear the green wheel strip on the SE's are actually painted on. I'll be PC'ing mine for sure but how to duplicate the wheel strip is the issue. Maybe rim tape and the 3 foot rule will work

I'm leaving mine flat black, if I were to do anything I would paint the front flat black to match the rear. Mine is kinda covered with the sidecases more than yours but either way I wouldn't worry about it. Out of the several people that noticed the wider wheel/tire and asked me about it, not one said anything about the difference from front to rear wheels... they were all checking out the rear going

So now my wife wants the same setup for her 250, I may be ordering new tires and another wheel very soon.

Ha! For my own sanity, I'll have to do something. Your talking to a guy that removes the fairings occasionally to clean the engine with detail brushes

I would loose sleep if I left it flat black. My OCD overrules logic most of the time...

Haha, I hear ya... how about you put it on and ride it for a couple of weeks and then decide which path to take... 1. match front to rear, 2. match rear to front or 3. leave alone.

??

Ok so I'll admit this rim along with a 150 rear makes that look pretty badass and sexy. I will admit I've been doing a lot of hating on people for wanting a wider rear tire, but only because they pinch in the stock rim. Seeing as this keeps the tire from pinching, I say this looks awesome, and it makes the user of the radial tire able to get the look/performance they want without pinching the tire and potentially loosing contact patch at full lean. looks great.

hmmm... A 150/70 would be taller right? I think that would be pushing the limits especially if you have any kind of a hugger.

Hi Frank, I'm not too sure. Maybe Matt (ztrack157) would know, he hasn't tested multiple sizes but maybe you will get luck if he has the 150/70. Best of luck!

what do you think I was going to push it to 160 Michelin or should I just stick to 150/60/17?

or 160/60/17

front should be 120/70/17?

After a bunch of reading on here I went with a 110 front and 150 rear as my setup and really like it.

I did my swap last night and I'm testing everything now. I will warn anyone looking to do this of a couple things I came across during the install.

1. This mod can not be done with stock chain length and the 15T upgrade front sprocket. I had to go back to the stock 14T to gain some additional length in the chain so the tire could clear the swing-arm near the engine. I plan to adjust the rear sprocket size to regain the gearing upgrade ratio the 15/45 gave me. I'm think a 14/42 combo will be pretty much do the same as the 15/45.

2. Some modifications may be need to clear the stock chain guard. I cut a small notch in it that is pretty much invisible under my Scott hugger.

3. The clearance to a Scott hugger are really close right now. I'm thinking once the rear sprocket is changed and I gain some additional chain length, it will help move the tire further away from the hugger. I looking now for additional options for a different chain/hugger set-up.

I'll try to get some pictures of these concerns and this mod later this weekend.

Here's the best one I have for now. You can clearly see the shapes of the tires are totally different.

I will also warn to those that it may matter..... The "flickibilty" of the bike has been noticeably reduced. For the first ride with it this morning to work, I found it to be more of a predictable flick but definitely different. It reminds more of my 08 CBR 600RR so the bike still changes direction quickly but just not as quick.

1. Interesting, I'm running a 15/42 so didn't encounter this.
2. Mine fit with it in the stock position, no mods needed.

Thanks for the feedback

Here's another option for those wanting a wider rear rim to properly mount the 150 tire....

Link to original page on YouTube.

It's a Honda NSR250 rim complete with sprocket and brake, and it mounts to the Ninja 250R with a brake caliper adapter plate.

I'm not sure on what the cost would be on the NSR rim/sprocket/brake combo as opposed to the wider stock N250R rim, but at least it's another option.

The question I have is this....does the front rim from an NSR250 also work to have a matching set, or would it need a caliper adapter plate as well?

I believe you are also gonna need a set of custom spacers, the ones he puts in the hub there look like they are custom.

It would depend if you had a motorcycle junkyard to look through for parts, find a wrecked or dead NSR with a 4.5x17 rim and snatch it up as cheaply as possible.

I did find some new rear rims on ebay for $500, but they were 4.5x18.

And I think there's a way to use the front NSR rim as well, I spotted a custom Ninja250R with that 6 point front rim on it, with a different brake rotor design.

That's a vinyl wrap on the MotoGP scoop nose from A-Tech, and a Ducati tail kit, and some sort of blue/purple iridium coated windshield.

It looks like it just jumped out of a time machine from the 60's.

I never said I liked the vinyl part, just the mechanical stuff.

My plans for my bike, if I ever get the money to do them, are far more subtle than the Rainbow Bright Cycle up there....

There's one bike on youtube called "The Blue Beast" that has pieces cut out of the stock swingarm to fit a 180 rear tire.

So far that's the only stock swingarm mod I know of, all the rest are swingarm swaps, which seem to me to be the better way to go in terms of swingarm strength and safety.
