86 cases of COVID-19 contracted
4 hospitalizations
1 death
This wasn't the final results. It's how many people in Minnesota were directly affected by an event that happened in another state. The outcome of Sturgis on its own state plus all of the other surrounding states that had participants needs to be summed and tracked before stating something like "final results".

Here's the title of the research paper quoted and linked above:

"COVID-19 Outbreak Associated with a 10-Day Motorcycle Rally in a Neighboring State — Minnesota, August–September 2020"

In contrast, this study tracking movements (pdf of original study) from the cell phone data of attendees and subsequent increases in cases post rally ties 260,000 cases to the rally.

The goal was to deliver 20 million doses of the vaccine before the end of December. At this point there has only been around 2.1 million doses administered and the number mbers just keep climbing.

Last Saturday, Prettywife and I were able to schedule our J&J single dose for this morning on our county website. Then this morning, I read that the J&J vaccine is immediately suspended by the CDC.

Well dang! We went to the vac site to see what was going on... They said they have the Moderna. Took about 5 minutes, followed be sitting around for 15 minutes in case there was an adverse reaction. Quick, courtious, efficient!
When we got home, we had an email allowing us to schedule shot #2 in 4 weeks.

Very impressive for a government program!

Both of us are partway through Pfizer, shot #2 coming up soon. Friends have shared that the 2nd one can have more after effects than the first in their experience (mainly fatigue), but we'll find out ourselves soon enough.

Looks like both Pfizer and Moderna are up to 90% effective 6 months later. Good news.

Both me and the wife got our first shots 3 weeks ago. 2nd shot coming right up. Yeah I hear it's common to get body aches and tired. It'll blend right in with my normal body aches and tired, hahah.

Although for most people COVID-19 causes only mild illness, it can make some people very ill. More rarely, the disease can be fatal. Older people, and those with pre- existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes) appear to be more vulnerable

Zero side effects for both me and my wife after 2nd shot. We are both fully vaccinated now. Can hang out with old people without fear of making them sick now. My wife's mom is 87 and loves having us visit.

Prettywife and I received our 2nd Moderna doses yesterday morning. She's got a sore arm and a headache. I'm whupped, sore joints (especially hands), chills, and a 100.6° F temperature.

No hedge trimming or lawn mowing for me, today.

Looking forward to being invincible!

Same here, not afraid of the movies or restaurants at all. Going to see Army of the Dead this weekend. Need a good zombie apocalypse. And, Summerfest Milwaukee sure has a nice concert lineup coming. Time to get back to real life.

Since the time between the first and second shots is so far apart you blokes (joke) are better off getting the J & J’s one and done. I know easier said than done.
Btw you mention us guys down south. I’m as far South as it gets lol.

Ontario is expecting some 300k J&Js in the next month or so which is a 😢 in a grand scheme of things. Will last 3 days exactly at the current pace. Compared to Pfizer which we now get 1mln a week There were hopes for JJ as its a single dose

The need/want for vaccinations is slowing down leaving an oversupply of vaccines. The U.S. is starting give doses away to other countries so hopefully they give some to our neighbors to the North and to the South.

Yes and we thank you for that, I think back in March we received 4+mil doses from you. Which got 10% of Canada’s population vaccinated with a single dose.

The numbers had been going down. Cases are starting to rise as if it’s a repeat of last year. Is it Groundhog Day!

I do not think its the same this time. I heard its a pandemic of unvaccinated now.
If you look at the UK numbers they have 30 deaths per 35k cases. Which is only 0.1% rate. Its a huge difference. They have quite a large % of people vaccinated.

Just when it looked like things were getting better, Louisiana now is having more cases per capita than any other state.

Looks like Louisiana is third worst in the nation for vaccination rates, with only Mississippi and Alabama as just slightly worse. Outcomes based on that should not be surprising. (link)

Agreed, the states with the lowest vaccinations are the ones that are having the higher rates of infections. With that n mind, as a public service announcement: please don’t forget about the flu vaccine.

One possible outcome is that the world population will eventually develop immunity enough that COVID becomes like the common cold. Then it won't cause severe illness, and it'll mutate once in a while so it keeps making the rounds forever.

Good reminder. I wrapped up my two shots of Pfizer back in April but I can't remember my last flu vaccine. It's good to see a nice, respectable exchange of ideas on here re this topic. I brought this up over on the SV forum some time ago and it got bogged down in politics and conspiracy theories...

I hope so, too. my county hit 75% vaxxed, I think. Improving. Still so many new cases.....

I've been doing shifts at work checking vaccine status for patrons coming to shows and am becoming quite the expert in local covid protocols.

Finally found my vaccine card yesterday! Last saw it a week after the 2nd dose of Moderna back in March.

Found it stuck under a cardboard box that got flooded after an EF-4 tornado destroyed the house. Had to leave that stuff in the garage because it still had a roof but the missing gutters caused the garage to flood anyway.

I’d probably have my third jab by now but I’ve had much bigger things to worry about after (injured, homeless, no transportation, etc).

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope things get better for you.

I have had 2 doses of Moderna as well and just got my booster. All went well with the first 2 and I figured with the holidays coming and plans to visit the family that I should get it.

I'm hoping we can get our boosters soon.

I've been doing some of the vaccine checks for patrons coming to the theater. Vaccines or a negative test are required to come see a show, and we offer wristbands to people pre-checking, so that on the day of their show they only have to go through the security and can bypass the covid checkpoint (which can get a bit chaotic).

For some shows, the boss has had a couple of us from the stage go out and help with the covid checks when there are a ton of people waiting. That was interesting. Kind of a mob scene- grab whoever's next, check their cards and ID, slap on a wristband and grab the next. We had .... 7 of us out in front one day trying to handle the crowd. Then back to backstage to work the show.

I'm glad we're requiring this stuff, as much of a pain as it is. We get a whole lot of people in for shows, and I don't want anything spreading. We had to test yesterday after finding out a recent show crew had someone test positive (we are all negative).
