When I worked at Advance Auto Parts, I pulled the bike right up next to the big glass store front windows. The cops weren't real happy, but after a few weeks they let it go. My manager actually insisted I park it up there. That was a good time in my life.

I guess cause vehicles need to be in parking spots. The would probably frown on the manager parking her Monte Carlo up on the sidewalk too!

Wouldn't the store parking lot be private property? I would think as long as the store owner/manager was okay with it, the cops really shouldn't be saying anything about it unless it posed some other danger or something.

I am thinking this too, but usually they don't even call the cops. They just call a tow-truck and have it towed at the owners expense.

Employees should never use such prime parking. It discourages customers all day and sends them to other, more convenient, places. Also, you get there before they do and end up using it all day every day that you work. Most employers have rules against this.
Also, the guy knew he would likely be leaving before you because few people cover their bike while eating or shopping. He's double-parked because the other person is double-parked. He went too far, sure, but he probably erred on the side of YOU because you don't have a door to hit him with and it was clear that you wouldn't be coming back right away. |
