Hello from California.

Hello guys! I am a new person to this forum obviously. I have joined to learned as much about motorcycles (specifically ninjas) as I can. Currently I have no motorcycle and I have no idea when I will be getting one. Reason being is that I am only 16 and am having trouble convincing my parents. I really need help in convincing them. It is understandable that it is dangerous but I am willing to take the risk.

I'd suggest a full year of driving before getting a motorcycle just to know how other drivers operate. Once you understand this, the scope of biking will be more clear.

Operating a motorcycle in California is a death sentence without properly knowing how others will drive. Get a bike when you are 18 bro, and for the next two years, ride around in a Used Honda Civic or something.

Welcome! I would get a used stick shift and just drive that around. I was driving at the age of 15 and just recently started wanting a bike. You could always convince them to get a permit if you want. Even at my age now I probably would not tell my mother I have a bike lol, they will never agree.

yeah I mean I probably wouldn't take freeways in the beginning either because I would want a good feel for the bike.

Welcome to the forums... as mentioned we have a great group in the SoCal area (I know it says I'm in Afghanistan but I'm from Oceanside) even if you don't have a bike you can go to a get together and check out bikes and ask questions and what not... I won't be back till later in the year, but I look forward to meeting up with you at some point!

Thanks guys! That sounds good for me to go to a meetup without actually owning a motorcycle. And this kid at my school has a ninja but he is selling it because he has a cruiser that is 1300cc and he wants a green bike. I want to buy it so bad but I don't know how I can afford it!

Take everything in steps. Start with an MSF course. And if you're really going to get a bike, consider all the things you will need to buy, like gear (price will add up quick), the bike, insurance is a big thing too and also the MSF class, DMV fees (like registration and permit fees, blah blah blah).

he's right but maybe he will let you do payments for it but you have to get your parents to let you get one first and maybe you won't even like being on one maybe your not the type of person that can control your want to go fast to show off thats were you get yourself hurt

It's good, but needs an nice exhaust. Looking for a slip-on TBR exhaust but don't want to go through the hassle of rejetting the carb.
