Thought I would give everyone an update. Got my 250 from the insurance yard

Annoyed: they zip tied all the parts together instead of reassembling her properly. I know for a fact there is damage NOT from the accident (mostly to the fairings). Their zip tie method also wasn't thorough -- lost my seat on the way back (grrr).
Got everything reconnected and the engine runs fine. Forks are definitely hosed. I can't tell if the wheel is ok or not (pinged the dealer who did the crash estimate to see what their eval said).
I'm strongly tempted to track the bike if indeed a frame fix isn't too expensive.
I will keep everyone informed on this thread; please post replies instead of PMs -- easier for me to manage and let's everyone know what has been "claimed" if the part out does proceed. Thanks for being patient

Any decision on how cheap I'm buying that headlight for? Like CHEAP right?? I just want the mounting/aiming pieces from inside it.

Bad news for you chone Headlight is completely done in -- mounting pieces were cracked/snapped in particular.

Even the brackets inside it??? The ones that allow you to aim the reflector? damn. You must have killed that thing.

I hadn't quite thrown it in the trash yet, but the headlight is literally the point of impact from the crash so it took a beating. When I get a chance I'll take a look at the reflector pieces

Just reposting this since I'm still getting PMs:
PLEASE NOTE: this sale is on HOLD

If you want to claim something if I can't fix the bike please post here in the thread; I'll be honoring 'dibs' by first-to-post on the thread if the part out proceeds (it is just the simplest this way). If you need a part soon you'd probably be best served looking somewhere else

Hi Yakaru, i just saw your part out thread and was wondering if i could order part <insert random part here>? i need it by friday. sorry i didn't bother reading any of the replies. i figured it was easier just to ask instead of reading upwards of a page of text.

max, just buy the whole bike. Then you'll be able to keep wrecking and you'll still have replacement parts.

Okay, update time. Bike status: total loss. Frame is too destroyed to attempt a repair. After much discussion Paul offered to buy the bike whole off me for spare parts. Breaking her down will be our big project for this week.

The good news for readers: chances are there are several pieces he already has spares of/doesn't need and so will be showing up in the marketplace; I'll definitely encourage him to see if anyone here wanted anything.

I'll let him know TFK, I owe you one anyway so hopefully he'll part with them

Flipside: the breakdown was shockingly easy with both of us cooperating. See my twitter post here:
http://t.co/UGgfBrP5Ea

Time to take the frame to a scrap metal shop. I did take the VIN plate as a memento of my first bike though
