It's windy and scary
and I don't have anywhere to park my bike except on the driveway. Any tips on keeping it from blowing over? Scary stories?

Unless you have hurricane force winds the bike should be safe with it on the kickstand and in gear. If you want extra security then the only thing I can suggest is to drill some tie-down hooks into the concrete and hold your bike in place with tie-down straps.

Face it into the wind.
If it gets real bad; sit on it and face into the wind.

stand outside, if the wind blows you away, then you have an issue, otherwise, i doubt a bike that weights over 350 lbs would be blown away.

Tropical storm winds on the east coast Paulette. Though RI has hardly gotten anything yet. If I take that canopy off the deck one more time this fall its staying off!!!
on the flip side, lots of stuff blowing around on the side of the road. |

1. park it in gear, not neutral
2. park on level ground 3. if all else fails, just lay it on its side... (satire)

sorry Greg, i don't know what Tropical storm winds are. I live under a palm tree in california, those words don't mean anything to me. unless you're refering to storms like Dorothy and toto went through, I wouldn't know what the expierance is.

if your driveway goes all the way up against the house why dont you park it against the house (rear brake side against house) and leave it in gear. that should put your mind at ease.. even tropical storm winds shouldnt be able to knock it over..
when i went thru katrina my bike was outside and it was never bothered even with the 90-100mph+ winds.. |

That's a good idea, thanks.
As an update, she did stay standing the whole night through some 60 mph gusts. Every once in a while we get some tropical systems up here and, especially with the cover on, it sure seems like enough to knock her over if hit at just the right angle. Quote:

It has less chance of getting blown over if you take the cover OFF.

Yeh, I thought about that, but I feel kind of silly taking the cover off when the weather is bad and only putting it on when the weather is nice...

Goodness can you guys please stop quoting that picture, my retinas are thoroughly burned.
Paulette you should know about strong winds... you get the Santa Ana's over by you don't you? I'm kinda scared about next week, Santa Ana winds are predicted. Here come the wildfires, tumbleweeds and falling palm fronds. |
