Ah that confirmed my suspicions.

While we would be a far more efficient society in the West if most people rode motorcycles we would be far more efficient still if everyone just car pooled with 3 coworkers.

Seems no way motos could bridge the gap in that regard unless we all stuck to 150cc and 40 mph or less.

I've car pooled, and it's not as efficient or helpful as it would seem at first. Unless everyone in the pool lives in the same place, there's driving to pick up and drop off the poolers. There's also a lot of "I need to stop on the way home" and "can we leave 15 minutes later just this once" stuff to deal with. Fuel and driving expenses being saved isn't quite the same as standard of living being raised. I'd go for the small displacement or electric motorcycle long before I'd commit to long term car pooling.

Very valid points about the logistics of car pooling. I've never experienced it myself.

I suppose I still have the "going green" card to play in favor of motorcycles!
