Versys 300 announced
Not my kind of bike but I want one.
What's more interesting though is that it seems that Kawa managed to adapt the 300 engine to Euro 4 - but it looks like they lowered the redline to 12k. No figures on power yet. I guess the Ninja 300 will get the same updates and new instrument. |

Good news Rolf.
Do you have a link or something, I'd like to see what it is going to look? As a 2017 model year or later? Found more information: This one in English, but lacks pictures: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/n...7-eicma-milan/ This one in French, but lots of pictures: http://www.motoservices.com/actualit...eicma-2016.htm |

To me it resembles KLR more, than it resembles Versys...
Small displacement ADV bikes seem to be in trend. |

I like it. I've said for a long time that Kawasaki should sell a naked version of the Ninja 250, and this isn't too far from that. Ideally it would also be available with a 17" front wheel and no fairings though.

It's already on the Kawasaki homepage, they seem to update it in sync with the launch. At least kawasaki.se does. But still no power figure. I fear it might lose a few hp as the 650 did - which they might get away with for the Versys but it won't do for the Ninja when competitors are above 40 hp.
How Suzuki can sell any of their 25 hp bikes for almost the same price as the N300 and R3 I don't understand. |

Kind of like a small, inexpensive, and ugly adventure bike imitating the large, expensive, and ugly adventure bikes.
Practical? Probably. But still ugly. |

I'm glad to see that smaller displacement (and cheaper priced) adventure bike are becoming available. I like it a lot, except for the tube type tires. Nice to see a mid size bike with hard saddlebags, but it's counter-productive because you'll need one just to carry what it takes takes to repair a flat! Like the larger Versys models, tubeless would have been a much better choice.

I got excited for the V-strom 250... until I saw that it was based on the gutless GW250 i2 motor.
The Kawi seems to be the best of this emerging class. I like it.

I think it looks ace & is a great concept. I'd happily have one as a winter bike & a green laner in the summer, perfect

It's a nice looking little bike, I think it would make a great commuter bike, but If I'm buying a Versys I'll get the 1000LT.

The fairing which covers the headlight looks like the back side of a ninja 300 being brought to the front!
Or is it just me seeing that?

Looks pretty cool. The small bike offerings just keep expanding! I remember when I first started riding, people were pretty much just choosing between the Ninja 250, Nighthawk, Rebel, and DRZ400.

Specifications are published
29.3 kW (40 hp) at 11500 rpm 25.7 Nm at 10000 rpm The other data seems to be same as for 2016 300 models, i.e. bore, stroke, compression. So, 40 hp instead of 39 seems like a 1 hp increase but I think it's rather 0.3 kW increase from 29 to 29.3 kW. More torque is nice too. I want one but can't really say I need one. No word on Ninja 300 or Z300 2017 models but I guess the same updates for the engine (and dash) could be done on them. |
