What makes other motorcycle websites less friendly than ninjette.org?
Copied from our portal page:
"Welcome to ninjette.org, the friendliest Kawasaki Ninja 300/250R site on the net. This website was created so ninjette owners (and potential ninjette owners) can show off their bikes, ask and answer questions about their bikes, and write up the adventures they're having with their bikes......" In your opinion, what makes other motorcycle websites less friendly than ninjette.org? We all know what makes this website special; tell us about your experiences while asking and answering questions in other motorcycle-related fora.

I have found that other forums have forum platforms that are not very user friendly.

Some forums I frequent are approximately as friendly as this one. Others aren't quite. A lot of comes from the attitudes of the administrator(s), filtering down to the moderators, and on to the general members. I think the main thing is to remember that when you're posting, you're talking to real people, so you should treat them as you'd like to be treated.

I think it's because as a rule, those here are genuinely interested in helping others and providing useful information. Flame wars and disrespect are rare and short-lived. Trolls soon realize that nobody's going to take the bait.
There's also a sense that the typical user here is more intelligent than you might find on some forums. No data on this, aside from the fact that for the most part people here can actually spell and use full sentences. Let's just say that you should see some of the posts on places like Gixxer.

Ego isn't as much of a factor with people that ride 250s as it is with riders on bikes that have a "reputation" to uphold.
The members here know they are dealing with a fair amount of new riders and most do their best to get them headed in the right direction when they are lost or need direction. |

But mostly, I just hate all the commercialized for-profit forums. And the leader of those is all the Verticalscope forums. They are so caked full of advertisements that Adblock plus makes the whole place look strangely sparse after all the filtering is done. The whole website layout is designed around one thing - advertisement placement. The administrators won't do anything that takes time, because they are paid employees. They don't take care of forums because they love to, they do it because it's their job, and they barely do anything because their time has $$$ attached to it. Many of the moderators have attitude problems. In a nutshell, I hate them. But in some cases, it's the only way to get a useful community to discuss issues about a particular bike because other forums are dead.

There are fewer people willing to participate in a dick-measuring contest on this forum. Folks are usually willing to take criticism as well, and if they aren't they usually decide to leave pretty soon, anyway.
One thing I hate about a lot of other websites, motorcycle or not, is that when someone is giving advice, it's rarely about helping the person in need of help. No matter how actually useful the advice given is, it's usually more about belittling whoever is asking the question than it is about helping someone in need. I rarely feel like I'm being talked down to on this site and am treated with respect. |

1. speed of response, even in the noob section, post up and several people are welcoming you, answers to questions are given-usually with pix and detailed write ups...
2. 250 is not the fastest, nor the lightest, nor the "dripping with testostrone" bike. A lot less attitude, a lot more enjoy riding. (this holds true for almost all sites that aren't Gixxer, R1, CBR1000RR, or ZX-10R related sites, although you can find good sites for the top shelf hypersports) 3. clean site (no excessive adds that take huge time to download vids and banners that slows the experiance) 4. Women friendly... even NevadaWolf feels comfortable here. 5. Corksil... nothing else need be said

I frequent a ton of different forums and this one is one of the friendliest around for the reasons you said above. I've always had respectful conversations here with people who are interested in learning and continuing discussions even if they disagree. Gawd, some of the forums I go on.....it's like people are just sitting around all day waiting to attack someone. This is one of my all time fav forums because people here are interesting, thoughtful, considerate and interested in participating in good discussions and THAT is the exact reason why I check out forums in the first play. YAY Ninjette.org!!!!

I think it has less to do with the bike and the stereotypes we associate with owners of a 250 and has everything to do with Alex.
Alex sets the tone and the standard for the site. |

I have noticed on other forums that if you ask a "stupid" question than you will be quickly flamed?

I was skeptical at first, but he capitalized my username and I logged out to verify that it wasn't the [y0u] tag shenanigans, and he did actually mention me specifically Personally I think this forum has interesting topics and many members from different backgrounds which all contribute to the diverse and dynamic exchange of knowledge. Repetition breeds competence, and competence breeds confidence. If you are humble in your communications, you can share great knowledge with others. The difference between information and knowledge is quite simple. Knowledge is gained from experience. There are a lot of great folks on this forum, and lots of things to learn if one is willing to think for them self.

I used to be a moderator for a Kawasaki ER-6 forum. What happened was that most of the forumers are too self centered to adhere to forum rules, whereas it is different with this one. The post replies for each of your postings seems welcomed and replied in a really well mannered. Just love it here. Even we're continents apart, I feel like I am living next to you guys.
Ahha, I am that creepy online perverted stalker after all.
