REAL street-fighter spotted in S.F. FiDi !!!

I really like MadMax look of this bike:

- duct-tape holding fairing on
- rattle-can paint wearing off
- dirt-bike bars
- rusty chain on back !!!

Me too -

Though it's not the "S" model like the street fighter. Looks like it lost more than its share of fights...

Dang, beautiful bike. Ain't it a shame to turn a silk purse into a sow's ear.

Now THAT is a bike that's easy on the eyes. Looks amazing!

Edit: someone correct me if I'm wrong but the bike in the op picture is a yamaha fz6 pre 2008 and jkv45 that a Suzuki 650, right? If so I have an fz6 not a 650 but both are amazing bikes.

But seriously, it's possibly intentional to have such a beater to ride into SF because stolen bikes are a common occurrence. I personally wouldn't want to park a nice bike on the street in the city.

Thanks!

The original "streetfighter" pictured is a 2006-ish Suzuki SV650S with standard handlebars (the "S" came with clip-on type bars) and a custom paint job.

Yep. It's rare to see a pristine, high value bike parked on the street in SF. Every time I do come across one, I think they are the weird ones. If it's going to bother you terribly if it gets kicked over, scratched, vandalized, or goes missing one day, it probably shouldn't be a citybike commuter.

Yeah, lots of Darth Vader bikes painted flat black. I've seen a couple of Vader Ducatis running around.

Reminds me of the video where a NYC guy vandilizes his own brand new bicycle so nobody will steal it.

In a similar vein, years ago when I was down hill skiing I rode up the chair lift with a guy that had an ugly pair of skis, spray painted and scratched on the top. I made a comment about them, turns out they were almost brand new top of the line pair of skis. He said he spray painted them so they looked ugly and no one would steal them when he went in the Chalet. They also were easy to find on the ski rack.
