Anyone use a mini tablet for GPS?

My old Garmin looks like a piece of junk next to my Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, and Note 3 phone. I was throwing around the idea of putting the Note 8.0 on a RAM stem mount, because it's awesome and ridiculous. Has anyone tried this?
Of course the whole touchscreen won't work in gloves; so the project might be DOA/DRT from the get-go.

Harry's lap timer on iPhone and Sky Pro GPS, ram mounts and the gas tank mount is something made in china(ebay)

my set up... except my gps is in an electrical box screwed onto the mount seen on my gas tank. iPhone is also tie wrapped on that mount at track
