It's Not a 600?

Why are people shocked that this bike is a 250? This morning I am at my desk and a guy comes in and see my helmet and asks me what bike I ride. I say the green 250. He says there is a green 600, but no 250. I seem to get this mistaken for a 600 a lot. Anyway have a great Halloween Friends

Some stranger asked me outside a grocery store if my bike is a 600. He then went on to tell me he has a GSXR750 that he doesn't ride any more because he's has too many "oh sh*t" moments on it. Asked me if I want to buy it or know anyone who does

I mess with peoples heads and tell them mines a 500, so they probably get 600 confused with it or think I'm just dumb and have a number off :P One person mistook my bike for a 250, it was some douchebag fr0sh at school, and he started to talk crap about it so I told him it wasn't a 250 and he was silenced xD. I don't really care if anyone says bad stuff about my bike, I don't see them riding anything so that's 250ccs you guys have that they don't

As riders and enthusiasts, can can all tell the difference at just a glance, and know that the capabilities of a bike are more determined on the skill of the rider, and less on the hardware on the bike. The hardware can be a limiting factor the abilities of a bike when pushed to the limits, but for 99 percent of rider/bike combos on the street, it's the rider, not the vehicle. On the track, the story is all different because the level of rider skill and vehicle ability are both so much higher.

The general public is dumb and just looks and style and engine size and assumes that all bikes are good at the same things, and therefore the hardware on the bike is what makes one bike faster than another bike. They compare one number to determine which is "better". While maybe this applies to a truck purchased specifically to tow a boat, where a 5.7 L V8 would be a better choice than a 4.2 L V6 in the same truck because of the extra power and torque, this is not the case with motorcycles. Each motorcycle has its' own strengths and weaknesses, and those cannot be compared simply by engine displacement.

So when someone asks about your "ninja 600", just chuckle at their ignorance and say, "yeah it's mine, and I love it".

Very sorry for the off-topic. Hi Downshift83, I really like your videos, especially the one where four of you go to a bike night via the freeway.

If anyone doesn't believe it's a 250cc just take them out to the bike and start it up. There will be no question that it is not a 600cc.

I've got the sportisi vr exhaust on mine and people often think it's a bigger bike. My dad's convinced it's louder then his R6 with a full Ti. Graves exhaust.. but we don't know for sure

I think most people just mostly hear people talking about sport bikes with 600/1000cc displacement and figure that's the standard. The first time someone said their Volvo had a 5 cylinder engine, I was like, "You sir are a liar!" The rest just assume a motorcycle that can reach highway speeds will have a bigger engine than their lawnmower.

Did you point at them accusingly and finish up with a "Harumph!"

With a turbo, NOS and an air shifter to sound even cooler then tell stories about your 250mph wheelies. Who's gonna hate on the ninjette then?

Was talking to a guy at the barbershop who rides a HD (don't ask him which model though, he couldn't pick which one it was between like 3 different ones he named lol). I told him what I ride and he was like "Those things are dangerous."

So I asked him to explain, and I won't go in to detail but he showed just how little hew knew of bikes. I told him more about the 250 and when I think it finally sank in that I really meant it was a 250cc bike he was confused because he didn't think they went that low. Yet at the same time he thought it could "just ZOOM, take off" because it was a ninja. I showed him a pic of my bike and he said he'd seen them around but thought they were 600's. Throughout the whole conversation I had to keep the laughter of his answers in my head.
