Picked Up an '03 250. What Does this do?

Picked up a 250 that had been sitting on the side of a guys hose for three years. Bike is complete, just missing the carbs (of which I have a replacement set). Here she is just after I picked her up:

Anyway, I am trying to figure out what this is: It is on the rear of the right faring (the one that attached below the seat).

Bike is out of commission for the foreseeable future (I have 2 kids, at some point I will find the time to get her going). I just wanted to know if anybody knew before I got to the process of getting it going.

lol, well yeah.

Just hope the electrical system hasn't been screwed with too much. It looks pretty stock.

Just hoping its not some crappy alarm setup or something similar.

I have no idea what the switch may have been for, other than a hidden anti-theft (shut-down) switch, grounding the CDI.

All you need to know about the electrical jungle of your bike is here:

It could also have been for auxiliary lighting, like neons and such. I've seen that quite often as well.

At least all of the plastics are in one piece.

I've heard that story before... Actually, if you go on Craigslist you can find about 5-10 bikes that say "I am too busy with my two kids to keep messing with it" lol.

I hope this doesn't happen to you though, keep at it. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a dust collector! The problems seem very minor and i'm sure you can get it up and running no problem with a little TLC and knowledge from this forum.

Good luck!
