I have these: Click Here.
Has kevlar more important areas. Knees, and butt. <-- Sounds like a weird rap song. Lol. Amyways, it's better then typical jeans. But I do plan on upgrading to better more durable pants later. There's a pair somewhere for a hefty price but a life time warrantee. I'll post a link if I can find it. |

Jeans are not good a good option. The following is from my blog, which summarizes all manner of studies on motorcycle safety:
There are many choices when selecting motorcycle gear, and we hear things about which materials provide best protection against road rash. I thought some research might benefit those looking for gear, or people who sometimes don't wear all their gear. The following comes from manufacturers, individual tests from advrider.com and various other sources, but they should provide some good points for discussion and probably offer good rules of thumb. Please note that abrasion resistance is only part of the story, you should also consider stitching quality and impact protection. If you have good abrasion resistance, but the stitching fails, you may end up using skin as your abrasion resistance. Also, if you have a poor fit of you gear, it may shift, making abrasion resistance worthless. Please also note that there are a couple of studies that show that price and protection aren't necessarily linked. You have to check quality, not the brand. These studies tend to be a bit old, and don't include enough information about modern, high D corduras. Leather
If I wear Jeans I also wear under them Bond armor over I wear leather over pans 1.4mm.
This is mainly when i ride my Shadow VT1100c. I wear a Cortech tour jacket armored or I wear a Wilson leather motorcycle jacket with with an Icon stryker vest under and a set of elbow pads. No shoulder protection though. Even when I wear my patch vest I wear elbow pads and long shirt with my stryker vest. Along with he Cortech jacket is the caliber pants. Normally when cold. I added two pics show the gear. |

According to Floyd's chart, cheap leather is worse that a 2 year old pair of jeans. So be careful what you buy. Not all leather is the same. CE approved armor does not mean CE approved Leather.
Also, buy something appropriate for your climate. Full leather is too hot in the summer here and people just go without and leave it in the closet. You're better off with mesh in that case because its cooler even though mesh isn't as good as high grade leather.

Fingerless gloves bad
Quote:
I learned never to wear fingerless MC gloves leather or not. I was wearing a set in my MSF class back in late 80s. I went down and put a bunch of rock and glass in my palm. From that day forward I always wore proper full fingered gloves. I know a Harley rider in back in Baltimore where I am from who lost his leg shredded to the bone. It started to rain and he was trying to make it to a bridge to get off the road and wait out. never made it lost traction bike slid he went down lost his leg from knee down. Wearing jeans and tennis shoes. That is why I wear gear today. After 40 years I have grown attached to my scarred & tattooed skin. I find it suits me well. |

^ Thank you sir for sharing your experience.
Me. after seeing this http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=105585. and experiencing first hand what the pavement and other elements can do to you. I started focusing on my gear more than my bike's farkles. And I would also like to thank the people on this forum who reminded and educated me to wear the proper gear. Because if you guys didn't, I wouldn't be able to type this right now Thanks guys. |

I'm wearing kevlar-reinforced denim as my pants ATGATT (with knee/shin armor, race boots and armored shorts), but need to get on the ball with getting some real leather pants. I do too much aggressive riding for jeans of any kind

Ugh that looked nasty...if I wore every piece of gear available it would take me longer to put it all on than it does to get to work...
I would like some kevlar jeans but it might have to wait a few weeks till I have the extra money for them... |

I recommend that you wait until you have the Ninja. You'll want to make sure the colors match. If you get clashing colors, its not as cool looking.

Nah, it can be done in literally 2 minutes. I've timed myself. It will be the best 2 minutes you've ever spent if you ever crash on the way.

Kevlar jeans
I had a pair of the Cortech jeans with armor. I hated them to baggy and the armor never stays in place. Not good!!!!!
Spend the money buy kevlar jeans you like and purchase bond armor. Serves several may purposes. 1. It is a base layer 2. adds Shin knee guard that does not move (important) 3. Tail bone guard double thickness you can split it down to be thinner 4. has hip protectors 5. has thigh protection (I removed mine) I wear regular jeans with mine but I wear a leather over pant for sliding rather then tumble and shred. The bond armor is comfortable and stays in place and has quality armor. |

I have these -- they are pretty low key as far as motorcycle pants go and have armor in the knee/shin and hip padding. They are super comfortable too! The way I look at it is that I would feel like an absolute jerk if I crashed and had rash/lifelong scars that could have been prevented For $250. |
