Yamaha revealed an updated version of the TMax, its top-selling maxi-scooter, as well as a special edition TMax Iron Max at the 2014 EICMA show in Milan. The 2015 TMax receives a redesigned front cowl, new LED lighting and, in a nod to Yamaha’s sportbike tradition, upside-down forks and radial-mount brake calipers.



The new 41mm upside-down forks reduce the TMax’s unsprung weight while offering sporty handling. Yamaha developed a new caliper design so that the mounting bolts face forward instead of perpendicular to the brake disc. According to Yamaha, this design offers improved rigiditiy balance and feel.

The redesigned cowling contains the TMax’s new dual LED headlights and a central delta-shaped diffuser designed to smoothen airflow across the fairing and windscreen. The mirrors are longer and higher than on the previous TMax, making it easier to maneuver in tighter spaces.

Other new features for 2015 include a wireless Smartkey system, a 12V outlet and a redesigned front fender.



The TMax Iron Max adds gold colored forks and brake caliper caps, matt black wheels with gray pinstriping, metallic accents, aluminum footplates and a two-tone textured dual seat.

The 2015 Yamaha TMax will be offered in Moon Silver, Competition White and Sonic Grey. The special edition Iron Max variant comes only in a Liquid Darkness color scheme.

As yet, the new TMax is bound for Europe. Considering the previous TMax wasn’t offered in the U.S., odds aren’t great that we’ll see the new one here.
