Sounds like it would be a fun ride! May want to look into a Corbin seat before you try it though, in case you haven't already.

I really want to. There are a lot of variables. Finding the time is also tough. I want to wait til some of my friends move to SF and Seattle before making the journey out as well.

At 500 miles a day, something like 15 days. I would probably set aside a month for this.

All these blogs and stuff I see for cross-country trips don't make a lot of mention for accomadations.

Do people normally motel it or camp? I'd be inclined to try to camp out most of the days I'm not staying with friends, e.g. most of Canada.

Lol. I know, I know.

What is the valve adjustment interval on the CBR?

I bet you will have to check them at least once on that trip. Right?

250s rule! I did 13 hours of interstate with it, and then back, and it wasn't too bad at all.

16K is the valve adjustment actually. So I guess I wouldn't have to if I did it before hand(Though I doubt going 1k over the adjustment will kill anything). I'm at 5k now, but that is increasing at about 1k a month.

You would have to plan ahead a lot to determine camping spots or motels. You could also just wing it and find the next motel whenever you're tired of riding.

Do you plan on visiting any major landmarks and take tours?

Yes, but mostly in the larger cities where I would be meeting up with friends. Mostly Vancouver, Seattle, SF, and New Orleans.

I'd be roaming around Toronto as well, but I can get around there pretty well on my own as I've been there quite a few times.

Regarding the camping thing, you really have to try it out on a smaller trip first to see if you can stand it and to see what you really need to bring. It's not for everyone.

Personally, I can't stand camping and would prefer a motel any day. I've tried it, absolutely hate it.

Either that or I didn't bring enough stuff.

I haven't really mixed camping with motorcycling before. I really do want to try though...I'm love camping though, and I do a lot of backpacking trips.

Motels the entire way really may not be an option financially.

Sounds like all you have to do is figure out how to pack all that gear on a bike that's not designed to hold all that stuff and plan out which campsites to get to at the end of each day.

Maybe you can find a friend who's willing to join you on the trip so you can split the motel bills

Camping all those days would be extremely uncomfortable due to the limited space. You won't have room to bring much with you. Unless you plan to go Man Vs Wild, I would stay in a motel.

Bear Grylls is my idol.

I think I will do some test motorcycle overnight trips and see how I like it. I tend to go for the extremely uncomfortable when it comes to camping. I sleep in my super small backpacking tent with not a lot in the way of gear.
