Yoshi TRC Slip-On..

Does anyone have the Yoshimura TRC slip-on?

I've seen many a youtube vid on it but was hoping for some first-hand accounts. I'm looking for a loud exhaust, tired of the stainless steel stock silencer.

I have a Yoshimura TRS slip-on exhaust

Same but different end.
Shimmed the carbs with 3 washers, Kn filter, restrictor until i brought a jet kit. little lean
Yoshi stage 2 jetkit, Kn filter, restrictor with recommended 98 jet and 2.5 turns out. rich
Removed exhaust restrictor, snorkel removed, picked up mid range throttle response. Close to perfect.

A little loud. BUT i LIKE IT

Annoyed that i didn't go with Yoshi TRS full exhaust right from the start, due to pulling most of the fairings off to remove the carbs for the jet kit install.

I have the TRC full system with carbon fiber canister installed on my 2012 Ninja 250. Huge improvement in sound quality! A little on the loud side. A dB killer insert is provided to reduce the sound level if so desired -

I wonder does the full exhaust sound any better than the slip on exhaust?

I bought the Yoshi slip-on, then soon after bought the Yoshi full system. I can't tell the difference in sound between them. Yoshi mufflers have a noise reducer that slips in. Without it, you can wake the dead. With the insert in place, it sounds louder than stock, but not annoying. The slip-on gives you more noise, the full system gives you more power!

Slip-on,

depends on what altitude you live at you "COULD" get away without.
May get away with shimming the needles with 2 washers.

Full system, you have too the bike will go lean and destroy a head or engine.
Jet kit definitely needed.

dyno-jet stage 2 2193 and stage 3 2393

I have both. One bike with a full system and one with just a slip on.
Most people would say they can't tell. I can tell/ hear a difference. Trying to explain it online isn't soo easy.

Well you would be the person to ask the next question.. Id like to do a full system but by the time I add up the exhaust, the jet kit, and pay someone to tune it right I don't know if its worth the price for the hp gain. I can just put a slip on for minimal cost and at least have a good sound.

I will say I absolutely love the sound of my full system. Just like what you stated above , that's why the other bike got the exact kind of slip-on.

Wether or not you need to shim needles or etc... That's up to you
As far as sound goes , yes , it's great. Performance , I don't know. My full system "feels" stronger

just to confirm, the header is the pipes leading from the engine to the beginning of the exhaust?

here is an image that you should be able to tell. looks like it was possibly chrome at one point, but has a bit of dirt/rust on it now... hard to tell

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the pipes (they curve along the bottom from the front) on a FULL exhaust are larger than the stock. Of course how can you know if you have nothing to compare it to.

I just installed the dB killer insert. It reduces the sound level considerably.

Restrictive but easier on the ears.

Still sounds awesome!

The dB killer insert is included with the Yoshimura TRC full system exhaust. It took a bit of persuading to get it in the end of the canister and lined up with the hole for the 6mm hex head screw that's provided to hold it in place.

I used a 6mm bolt instead.

I thought it should be included with just the TRC canister also.

Maybe it's available from Yoshimura??

The sound is quite subdued with it installed. I like it!

Any way you can make a video with the new sound? This may be something I am interested in getting. At times, I dont like the loudness of my exhaust. Especially when I am on the back country roads where it is nice and quite.

The cool exhaust note is the same with the insert, but the sound intensity is way less.

Inserts are available from Yoshimura -

Yeah I'd love to get a full system but between that, the re-jett, and the install price I'd be at like $600-$700..
