Angry Can't get front sprocket cover off

Cleaned and lubed my chain today, and thought I'd give the sprocket a clean.

I unscrewed the 3 bolts and also took the gear lever off.

From the videos I've watched the cover should then easily slip off, but the damn thing seems welded on!

The top half will budge a cm or 2 when I wiggle it but the bottom half is stuck flush.

Please help

Thanks guys.

In other news, I fitted my power commander 5, k&n air filter and found the source of my solid turn signal problem.

Don't believe the videos! Sucker is epoxies on there from all the gunk.

My trick is to stick a long screwdriver between cover and the frame and gently rock it back and forth to loosen the cover. Eventually it gets loose enough to pull straight out.

nah man, it's hard as hell to remove the first time. After that it's easy, just make sure the pressure you're applying is even and straight out

Persistent WD-40 or ATF on location pins and shifter shaft, then rubber hammer.

brake clean and a rubber mallet should do the trick.

you shouldn't be hitting any moving parts, you should be tapping the cover.
