05 Suzuki 1200cc Worth the trouble?
http://brownsville.craigslist.org/mcy/4889240380.html
Check out this bike. Is it worth flipping? Or does the amount of money > Profit to be made?

$1500 for a running B12 with a clean title isn't a bad deal. Parts availability for that motor is even better than for our ubiquitous ninjettes, so even getting a whole new (used) set of carbs if needed still wouldn't be a huge amount of $.

So, would you recommend just buying a used set of carbs and replacing them?
The only thing that I find shady about this is that I texted him a while back and he had already sold it but somehow he has it again and is selling it again. Last time he was selling it for $1700. Plus, I like color yellow. My ninja is yellow and it helps me to stand out in traffic because of the color. I do not think that I would want to ride a 1200cc anytime soon though, a little too much bike for me but I would not mind making some profit off of it and maybe getting the New Honda CBR 500r.

Adjusting the carbs, I can imagine is time consuming and possibly costly. About how much does it run to pay a mechanic to adjust the carbs? I would do it myself but I have never worked on carbs and I do not have the space, tools, or time to attempt it any time soon.

You're never going to flip a bike for money if you pay someone else to do the work for you

I figured. So what im seeing is a bike for $1,500 that I can negotiate down to possibly $1,200 maybe $1,300. Used Carbs on Ebay are about $360 so that takes my procurement cost to about (+-) $1,500. Kelly's Blue Book Value is about $2,400, However, the current Market Value might be slightly lower. Tax refund season is a positive factor for me. There's about $800-$900 to be made plus carburetor maintenance knowledge to be learned if I DIY. Hopefully it can all be done within 30 days so I don't have to transfer the title to my name which would increase the costs.

yeah, I'd say no on that too. It seems that stock bikes or mildly and tasteful mods can help sell a bike, but that one is a bit much.
pretty flat powerband on those things too... I had fun riding the one my dad had.

It looks like a decent deal to be honest, I'd buy it with the intentions of keeping it and then maybe just for fun throw it on craigslist if you find a buyer and can make a solid $800 profit, then cool! If not, oh well, still looks like a fun bike.
Although I must admit it looks like it's been through hell and back and if a decent looking stock one sells for $2,500 then idk if it's worth much more than $1,500. Stock one:

That's the S model. They also sold without a front fairing, just a round headlight.

Some good advice right there. I wanted to buy a cheap bike just to tear apart and try to learn on. Too bad i'm saving for a 600 instead though
