Indeed, the fender trim is exactly what I imagined the bike needed all along, but I kinda liked blue better. The only problem with blue is that it highlights the dated-looking seat-shape unless you get a matching seat cover or sport cowl, and makes the headlight look that much worse with the windscreen suddenly ending on a squared-off headlight. I imagine that painting the outer bubble of a double-bubble windscreen would solve that but, once again, going black is much easier than matching! Now that it's black, you can also re-shape the front headlight to look like dual lights with a little electrical tape.

Anyway, what I meant about the mesh was that the side mesh appears to be missing after you re-shaped the fender. I kinda liked it.
I plan to add mesh to my new-gen but I'm going to paint it black. I bought the hexagonal mesh last year and the sheet I experimented with is already rusting in my room!

What process / paint did you use? Did you pop off the muzzy plate first or just mask it off? Any more info?

Another question... I really like the look of the shaved passenger grab-bar. I am thinking about chopping mine soon. Could you take a close-up of that so I can see where you cut it? Also, what did you use to cut it?

I'm buying an 03 this weekend that's umm.... seen some time on the ground. I was thinking of giving it the liner treatment like you did, but before I do, I thought I'd ask how well it's been holding up for you since it's been on there a little bit now. Any problems with flaking or anything like that? Also, any tips for prep or application would be awesome.

It'd be awesome if you wrote a thread/blog about how to paint your bike. Every step, materials etc.

Loving the matte!
