Clocks
One thing I can't stand is being on a bike and not having being able to know the time. Anyone know of a good clock that will mount up easily?
I have an analog on on my Bonneville that uses a little metal arm to mount it off a bolt somewhere in the cockpit area, but the ones I'd use on the 250 are on the underside of the fairing, so that wouldn't really work. Worst case, I can try to make some sort of angled metal arm that would work, but figured I'd check and see of there is an easier solution.

the Daytona water temp gauge doubles as a clock.
if not, then I usually strap and old digital wrist watch to the handlebars or remove the straps and velcro the watch to the triple tree area. |

It does when I'm using the bike for work and I have to get to my next job
Thanks Kelly. I was hoping do do something a bit nicer, but that would do for now. Now I gotta find an old watch. Don't have any since cell phones took over

well, with the new gens having no water temp gauge, the Daytona was a great solution, IMHO. The clock was a bonus.
don't know how you feel about not knowing what your coolant temp is, but it is something to consider, especially since you're looking to add a clock. lol... the watch that I use had to be dug out of the desk drawer, but it still functions to this day after many, many years. The cheaper the better, so if you ever end up losing it, it doesn't matter. |

Nah, I'm not too concerned about the temp gauge. This is what I've got on the Bonnie...
Just don't have any bolts near the gauge cluster that I could use to mount it unless I could bend that little arm (which I think is too small / thin to do) or fab one up from some scrap or something.

I have a tiny Formotion stick-on spot clock on the triple tree (mine's a pre-gen, but the new gens have triple trees too ).
http://www.formotionproducts.com/spotclock.htm I've used Formotion products (clocks and thermometers) for years and they've always been great quality and worth the cost.

I saw a guy on another form (I think...it might have been on here) and he did this. I've seen similar pods at walmart on the auto accessories aisle. I was running one for a while until I made a custom mount for my iPhone

What if you got one of those projecting mini clocks so you can just read it off your windshield like a hologram?

Those clocks usually require constant power or, if battery-powered, a button to be pressed. Plus they are usually long and skinny, so it probably wouldn't fit that well in the dash area.

I keeping thinking I need a clock because I'll be out riding and need to know what time to be back home or when I have to be at class or work. I don't really like the idea of wrapping a watch or using a zip tie.

Just look down and see which way your shadow is going. Motorcycle sundial.
Lately i've been using the GPS for time. Usually, the time doesnt matter since I know i'll get there when I get there and there's no way to get anywhere faster or slower than I already am. |

Haha, yeah mostly of the time I drive to an open field, point my bike North and look for the shadow. But for when it's overcast, I decided I need a timepiece.

nice Kipawa.
I did this for 5 bucks from CVS in their auto section, I don't get alot of rain so don't know how long it would last if that is an issue. My thing is the heat, and I know it will be dead by the end of summer. but it doesn't light up at night.

Light up button right on the face, I can hit it when I'm riding and see the time! Removed the band in favor of a ziptie so it can't be taken off and used as a watch. Tempting, I know.

$5 at Wally World, thermometer, compass, and clock all in one and attaches with 3M tape. I don't think it lights up but I doubt I'll be riding much at night. I'm still not sure whether I want to mount it where it is in the picture though. I might have to paint it black to match.

I found that Daytona also makes small digital clocks, I might order one of those up.

I have that crazy compass/clock/thermometer cluster thing. You can get them at AutoZone. I don't think the clock has a light, and the thermometer is kind of useless. At least mine is. At night I use my TomTom, which has the added benefit of showing something that's at least close to my actual speed. Oh, and it's also a GPS!

I took the band of of an old watch a velco it on the fule gauge just below the oil light. I also like the idea ManyCavies have and just mount it in the middle of the rpm gauge.
