Yeah I dunno mine was easy to mount .. eBay kit , $50 .. digital ballast .. didn't need to remove any fairings or anything , no spacers.. mounted and installed in both lamps in less then a hour and been going strong since .

8000k will be kinda dark. I would suggest 4300k. Even 6000k is a little low on the lumens, but 8000k is dangerous on a bike. OEM all use 4300K or 3000K. The colors you see are from the lenses they use, not the bulbs themselves. That's why bimmers, mercedes, and the like all have really bright colored HID systems.

I *highly* recommend the 6000K, H7, 35W kit from http://www.ultimatehidkits.com. I installed this kit in my own bike back in December and it's been fantastic. The ballasts are tiny and were easy to mount just using industrial-strength velcro inside my front fairing. The light color is pure white and the price is right. (Ignore the "$129 sale ends Aug 3" bullshit, the "sale" is always happening.)
The only gotcha is that the spacer they provide is for a car and you need to dremel it down yourself to fit in the bike receptacle...but it sounds like that's the case with most kits. And no, I don't work for them |

HID's for 2011 250r help
Hey Ninjetters,
Im thinking of buying some HID's for my Ninjette. I would like to know how will different color temps look. For example.. 6Ks,8ks,10Ks etc.. If you have some HID's on your Ninjette, and if you have the time, post up some pics of your bike with the HID's on and what color temp are they. Also, which HID brand would you recommend? I just like to do a little research before spending some hard earned cash lol Thanks!

DDM Tuning is also localish to you as they have a store in Huntington. Most people get the kits from them and they have lifetime warranties on their bulbs if you keep the receipt. 35W 5k or 6k seems the norm.

also, Ed, I have the DDM tuning 6K HIDs in my bike and they look great - very crisp. One thing though: don't leave the key in on the position before turning the bike on for too long, those fuses pop fast! |

The site's products are freakin' sik! I'm really thinking about just buying one of these lights instead. But idk if they ship or if I'll have to go all the way to NorCal to purchase and install em. Thanks a lot for your tip, Max. Do you have some pics of your bike showin off the 6Ks? Would love to see em. Thanks!

I don't have any pics, it's hard to get them since the lights just look all blurry in a picture. You'll have to come ride with us and see them in person
Also you don't buy lights from them - each set is custom ordered. YOU tell them what you want and he does it for you. You ship him your headlight housing and I don't know where I got this number from but $1000ish comes to mind... |

I've got 35W Morimoto 5000k's in a home-made bi-xenon projector retrofit. Very pure white light with a little blue when the bulbs are warming up. I'm on the lead bike here.
There's a DIY on the forum by CThunder-Blue for doing your own retrofit if you're handy with tools. Took me some time, but I've been extremely happy with the results. Re: 35W or 55W, I've never had cause to complain about my 35s and they put out a disturbing amount of light with a lot of heat too. To the point that my hand literally gets warm if I just put my hand in the light a couple feet from the headlight. I'd personally be afraid of 55W bulbs melting something in the housing, over the long term. Haven't heard of anything like that, but there's my Also worth noting that the 55W washes out color, so the rule of thumb I've been told is that if you want the color of a 6000k 35W bulb at 55W, get an 8000K.

You could buy another stock headlight (~100-180 on ebay, 400-ish new IIRC) to either use temporarily while they retrofit your original one, or to send in for the retrofit. Then just sell the remaining one afterward if you don't want to/can't afford to keep it around as backup.

I got mine from here:
http://www.kryptonbulbs.com/HID-kits...its/H7-HID-kit $50usd shipped get the 35w for sure very slim ballast (which helps the installation) I went with the 6k but if i can choose again , I will go with 5k or lower 6k (for this brand at least) is a bit too blu-ish for my liking. hope it helps. |

Using the search function helps
there are a number of ways, just using HID bulbs without projectors or doing a projector retro fit. The later is the better of the 2 options
