Has the bike been sitting for a long time? You might want to clean the carbs and use fresh gas.

There's another Ninja 250 site, I think it's ninja250.org, that has an excellent "How-to" page. It has really good instructions, with pictures, on how to clean and set up the ninja Kiehin dual carbs.
Until you get hip to these carbs (not really that difficult) you're in the useless quesswork stage. Don't mean to be salty here, but without basic carb knowledge you're at someone else's mercy. With basic carb knowledge you have a sweet running machine.........check out the "How-to" page. j98sprint |

So it sounds like the bike is starving for fuel. It's time to go thru the fuel system which probably means the carbs will have to be cleaned.

I recently just cleaned my carbs for the first time using these 3 step by step videos..
I had no previous carb work experience but am mechanically inclined so it was fairly simple. Here is a link to the first video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exa467_eoXw |

Sounds like a case of needing a carb clean. Cleaning the carbs is the easy and simple job. Getting them off is another story. |
