anyone up for local tutoring on carbs?
anyone well-versed in the carb (& local to Fairfield/Vacaville, CA 94533) have some time and up for local tutoring? I can pay for your time if reasonable.
I've taken care of some of the basic maintenance (eg: spark plugs, oil/filter, inline fuel filter, etc), by watching YT vids and reading docs/forums online. Lots of great info I have an '03 250 and is my first bike with a carb. I thought it be a good idea to have someone school me on carbs; maybe at a minimum do a removal/cleaning/re-install/test? I'm also up for me removing the carb and coming to you (within ~30 miles from 94533). I have tools; I just need someone's experience and brain Let me know time-availability and rate, if interested. Thanks in advance. ~D |

Hi, I'm just 15-minutes south of you and can help you with basic carb work.
What kind of issues are you having with carbs? Cold start & choke problems? Stumbling at partial-throttle? Stumbling at full-throttle? |

no issues with the bike; it runs pretty solidly. my request is more for a preventative-/maintenance session, more so than a troubleshooting session. |

Ok, we can do basic maintenance. Perhaps you can order a carb-rebuild kit first, and then we clean and install:
- carb-removal (should separate battery-box to make future-removal easier) - carb-disassembly - jets removal - soaking/cleaning of carb pieces - float-bowl seal replacement - float-valve replacement - float-height measuring & adjustment if neceesary - vacuum-hose replacement - carb re-install I leave anything out? |

If things are working, no need to replace much more than rubber parts. Here's basic rebuild kit on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/222262539152

You should look up The Vintage Monkey in Sac. I know they are doing a class on carbs. Plus is a really cool place to visit

Thanks Cody. Looks like they don't have any future carb classes posted yet. I wonder how often they offer these classes. I'll keep checking their site. Thanks again.
