2014 Victory Judge or 2014 Triumph Thruxton
Went to the motorcycle show this weekend and after being dragged away from the ninja 636 a buddy of mine was looking at these two bikes. I thought they where both cool and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on these. I liked the cafe styled look a bit more with the Thruxton as they had one displayed that was all tricked out and horse power was not that bad either. Now the Judge with more horsepower and not so much a cafe looking type bike but a cruiser felt a bit more menacing but with a few little cosmetic tweaks I think it can be made to look more of a hardcore cafe racer. So if anyone has any opinions or experience on these bikes that would be great.

I've had a couple friends and acquaintances who own/owned Thruxtons. They loved them, but said beware the boggy brake response.

That's not a difficult fix though. Long term you can absolutely find a solution for that. For example our ninjette brakes are awful (stock) but we can do things to make them a lot better.

I prefer the Thruxton, looks-wise. But haven't sat on or rode either one.

Personally, I would go for the thruxton.
If you want to be noticed, get the thruxton. If you are leaning toward the Judge, definitely check out the Yamaha/Star Bolt The seating position is a lot different between the two so make sure you sit for some time and get a test ride too.

Triumph street triple r, yamaha star bolt spec r, any japanese 600, ktm rc390, home-converted supermotos and so on. The current market for bikes is so ungodly amazing that I don't know how my wallet is going to survive the next 10 years or so. street triple r and bolt spec r for street, ktm rc390 for canyon carving. japanese supersports/superbikes and ninja 250s/300s for track. All the while some offroad fun. all this and a beater pickup truck for the comparable cost of one german engineered bmw 3 series |

I was dragged away from the 636 because I could of spend the whole show on that bike and who knows maybe even buy one soon.
Now these two bikes are more for my buddy and I like them as well. I sat on this tricked out Thruxton called Cafe Racer Deux. it was the exact same one in the link below. It was a surprise to me when I got on it for I thought it would feel awkward but it was very comfortable and yet aggressive at the same time. http://www.british-customs.com/trium...itish-customs/ The Judge was somewhat a different feel it felt aggressive but was not as much though in its seating position. the seat was comfy and you know there is way more power and with a few mods it could be a wicked cafe or bobber style. One of the Victory hosts was telling us that this bike was designed for people who rode sport bikes prior but maybe want a crusier now and not lose that sporty feel with the transition. Now I did check out the Yamaha Bolt it looked nice and felt okay when sitting on it but there was something about the sides that made it feel off. they had some custom ones done and they looked cool and i was able to sit on them but there was still that weird like something is off type feeling. My buddy felt it as well and we noticed it compared to the other bikes. My friend and I are close in height and weight and our feedback is the same even though he has an appreciation for sport bikes he is just not that much for riding them he prefers the cafe or bobber style. |

Here is a link my buddy sent me to a tricked out Judge by Zach Ness. I love how Victory has The Gunny as one of their spokes people if you check out the youtube vid. Don't think my buddy would go this far but thought it was pretty cool. There also doesn't seem to be that many custom Judges out there right now compared to the Bolt and Thruxton.
http://racingcafe.blogspot.ca/2012/1...zach-ness.html Wish he would go for both models I am still on the fence between the Judge and Thruxton. Last futzed with by beniblanco; February 26th, 2014 at 01:01 PM. |

My one problem with the Bolt is that stupid air cleaner. Hits my shin just below the knee, but I am about 6'3" and can handle a stock height bmw gs adventure.

When I sat on the Bolt it felt off with its sides and I am 5'10" I also sat on the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer and I thought that would bother me a lot with the sides because of the way the engine is placed but it actually felt better then the Bolt.

Don't get me wrong I like the bolt it is a cool bike but other similar type bikes felt a bit better to my friends and I when siting on them.

Two completely different bikes. How are we supposed to tell you if you want a badass cafe racer or a boring old cruiser?

Judge or Thruxton would be murdered out for a bad ass cafe racer style definitely no crusier. The Judge being a bit pricey from the start has more hp and would need more custom work done to it but in the end would be a very unique bike. The Thruxton is lower in price and has less hp then the Judge but has more options and choices for parts which would leave more money for upgrades and personalization. It is a tough call because both are great bikes.
