I've got just under 60k miles on my 250, I stopped caring about other people a long time ago...

In curvy stuff, the 250 is already faster than I am.

I do want a nice middleweight street bike though. I'd really like to be able to make passes a little more spontaneously, if you know what I mean. Not looking for a full on supersport because I don't think that's the best fit for me right now, but a Striple or ann FZ07 something similar has really been catching my attention lately.

I can enjoy curvy roads in a higher gear with the midrange. I want to be able to not have to plan my pass based on entry speed and bet on the traffic at exit and give myself like 0.5 seconds to choose if I'm going to pass or not. I'd like the torque to be able to make a safe corner, then have time to get a good clean sight line before passing. Also, faster passes are cleaner passes for me. Get it done and get back down to a safe speed...

my thought is its not how much horsepower you have its how much you can use on a daily basis. Sure i can get a kawi h2r but i cant use 100% of 300 bhp on the streets. i can use just about 100% of the ninja 250 tho

Agreed, the 300 is still faster than me in the corners. These things can rail corners at unreal pace.

I feel you on the passes completely, it's one of the reasons why I don't believe my next street bike will be a 250/300 though I'm glad I started on one. Those FZ07s are sick bikes too, just as nimble but with good power and brakes for safer passing and 2up riding.

I could see you on one pretty sweet fz07 those things are some of the coolest bikes on the roads right now

How often do you picture classic American muscle cars and reflect on their cornering 'performance'? How often do you see American made sportbikes? Perhaps I'm unfairly characterizing Nascar (I don't watch it), but if they could continue going fast for hundreds of miles without turning at all, rather than just left, it seems like they would.

As for size upgrades in other cultural backgrounds, I have no theory.
These exact things, my friend, I have been wondering for years.
