18k Service

When i get the bike serviced at 18000km should they just do the things listed in the manual (essentally just brakes) or should they be doing the oil and air filters and stuff as well?

Because i just had mine serviced on Monday and it end up costing $280 dollars (attached photo)

Holy crap, $280 for them to change your OIL?!! That's why I don't take anything I own to dealers unless it's warranty work.

The thing about Australia is if you are handyman, you can pretty much charge anything you want there. There seems to be a shortage of those who have actual hands on experience. From what I understand. Tradesmen do very well there, and there is lots of money to go around. I was strongly considering moving there a few years ago when the mining boom was still at it's peak. I also understand that communities are very close-knit. The only problem I have with the country (again, from what information is given to me) they are extremely liberal and have corruption problems like we have here with liberal politicians.

With all that said, I would still love to move there if I were able to land a good deal on a house and set up myself for work. The place looks absolutely beautiful, and I bet that pictures really don't do it justice.

Honestly, with the cost of living, a shop probably has to charge like that to keep in the black. It is not so bad when you factor in cost of living, it was described to me that the economy is similar to that of living in New York or California.
