I'm not sure what's recommended but everyone I've talked to runs them between 28 and 32 hot off warmers. Exactly where is personal preference.

I run 29/29 cold (no warmers) and don't have any issues with the tires, though my setup has the suspension as the weakness so I may not be riding the limit of the tires

I have been running these pressures and have been getting good wear, i mean drop a few psi tho, try to get a little more heat into them.

The A13 has amazing wear, though a lot of that is the bike. The pirellis wear very well as well but the A13 seems to last a bit longer (1000+ miles longer)

I just ordered a set of these for my 2009 250. My bike still has the IRC Road Winners on them, from 2009 with 3500 miles. Hard as rocks!

The Dunlops do not like freezing temps they can crack if smacked around. They were down on ft tire stock as well big shipment was missing ft.'s. Been testing the alpha's on 2 ktm390's and ran them at Jennings in endurance races and this past weekend on the ex250r they work good. psi is what works for different riders. I look at psi rise off track and core temp. we run 31 rear 29 ft for the most part hot off warmer.

yeah the cold makes sense. I got them yesterday. So the 150 seems big for the 250 but I guess it fits on the rim ok?

it is a little squeeze to mount but it works good on the track. This tire is a good one, I come from old school racing back when the k591 was a new tire that everyone raced. I would say the a13 is a very close match to the bridgestone med slick. The Michelin cup evo ft is better by a little bit.

I use the Alpha on the back and the Michelin Cup Evo on the front, although I wish the Cup was available in 110

The Michelin 120 race front with a 150 2ct works great and last longer than anything I've used.

Keith - I might give the 150 2ct a try after I wear this new Alpha out.

thanks for the heads up, I think I'll be sticking with the alphas for now since I have a good supply of them but I'll consider that in the future

I might try a set of these. Dunlop has some killer deals for our club....$225 or less for a pair of tires.

I am going to test out some bridgestone slicks 90/17 front and 120/17 rear, one thing to consider is that going up in tire means more rotating mass which is very important to consider for these bikes.

So do you have to run tire warmers for the a13's?

I personally run them on warmers and make sure I'm around 30f/28r at Jennings around 60-70 degree weather.

I have ran them without warmers and they did not grip as much the first two laps. After the first two laps I pushed it much harder and it seemed to grip just fine.

Are tire warmers necessary? I'll answer by asking another question: Is racing motorcycles necessary? The answer to both is: No.

However, I think there are good reasons to use them if you want to win.

Here's one of the main reasons why I use tire warmers: When I race I expect to be competing for the win. If I give a second or two to my competition at the beginning of a race because I'm waiting for my tires to come up to temperature, well I'm essentially ok with giving a handicap to the riders I'm competing with. In the classes I run in, the races are only 8 to 10 laps long. Why would I want to handicap myself for as much as a quarter of the race? If I can go into the first turn of the first lap at my own race pace I do not give up an advantage to others. Most passing is done in the first lap of the race, so again, why give up such an opportunity?

BTW, the last race I won, the time difference between first and third place was four tenths of a second.

Aside from that, going into a race in the best emotional and mental state possible is also vital. The confidence that using tire warmers can impart is a big factor in attaining a good mental state. Don't believe me? Just use tire warmers for half a day, then intentionally don't use the front warmer for a session or two. I promise you you'll be thinking about it for at least a few laps.

I don't use them on my bike, but there again I'm not competing so it's no big deal to take it easy for a lap or two.

Got mine mounted the other day, the mechanic questioned the pressures on the dunlop site. He called local dunlop contact with RTS, cold pressures should

32 front and 23 rear. add 2 PSI if on warmers.

Hmm.. that's not right, should be as follows.
Front = 30 cold and 33 hot
Rear = 28 cold and 33 hot

I've tried the pressures above and they work well.

There is nothing wrong with running 23 psi in the rear. I'm guessing some people go far lower than that. Its a matter of personal preference.

I don't have a problem with people's personal preferences on tire pressure, I was more concerned that somebody quoted him the pressures as being from RTS when their website specifies differently.

Both of these bikes ran an 8 hour endurance race running some of the fastest 250 times. Tires are still great.

since I am a novice, on 3 track days so far, I am not pushing the limits of the tire. I mainly posted to show wear at the pressures I was running for anyone that was curious.
