Bike has no throttle and dies?
So I have a 2008 250r with 600 miles. It's been shimmed 2 washers, desnorkled, kleen air mod, and a full PLFMG exhaust. The past 4 rides, I've been riding in 3rd gear going 30-40mph and suddenly I will lose all throttle response and the idles will drop and the bike dies causing me to pull off to the side of the road if I can make it. I'll turn it off give it 1-2mins and restart it up and it will work okay or do it again after I get going. I open the gas cap to see if there is any air/fuel problems, but there's no suction noise.
1. For CA emission gas tanks, there are 3 holes on the left side of the tank. I removed the emission evaporator box and plugged the red and blue hole with rubber vacuum caps. The only tube that remains is the run-off that goes to the ground? Is that okay? 2. From reading, I'm thinking my carbs may be getting flooded with two washers, so I might just do 1 washer on each side? 3. The bike only has 600 miles, so it has a lot of dead time, I'm not sure with the previous owner, but it has sat for 2 - 3 weeks without riding. I've used seafoam 1oz/per gallon a tank ago. You think this is just a clogged up carb? Otherwise the bike runs very well and strong, just these random stalls with no throttle control at all. It can happen after a 20-30min ride or last night it happened after 5mins. |

Thanks kkim, so my options are add a fuel filter to the blue vent hose or do the gas cap mod/buy 49-state cap? Do I have to do both or can I do one or the other?
Also any part number on which fuel-filter, it'll make my trip a lot easier? Thanks. Also look like there is a air filter attached after the fuel filter, I'm not sure where to pick those up? |

Chris,
PM VEX and ask him your questions. I don't have a Ca bike and know nothing firsthand of what it takes to get things right when removing the canister. |
