Tires - does anyone else have this problem?

...or maybe the the lip on the tire is normal? These are the Pirelli Dragons. Still on stock suspension although it's getting upgraded next week. It feels like the bike is bouncing/wiggling a lot. Plus the track I was riding at today is pretty bumpy. I'm new to riding the 250 so maybe that's just how it is...but going back between my 600 and the 250 makes it really noticeable.

eeek, that doesnt look normal. the rubber shouldnt be flaking.

That part of the tire looks great, it's what happens as they heat up on track. The cupping on the lip could be a rebound issue, but without an aftermarket shock there isn't much you can do about it AFAIK. Once the suspension is upgraded, there are more options to try and dial some of that out.

From what I know about motorcycle tire wear, cupping / scouping on the front tire between the tread on the front side of each tread line "trench" is how they normally wear; but on a rear? I dunno. Also, it's really pronounced with all that racing slag (perfectly normal for tires on the track, Keenan84)! I'd bring it up with the manufacturer. It's like the inner wall of each treadline is too tough.

Hmmmmm 24 hot might be proper tire temp for a normal bike, capable of putting heat into the tire. Ask your tire guy what the temp should be coming off the track. Then, measure yours. I'm betting you're nowhere close to that temp. Our 250s are so slow, they can't put much heat into the tires. So..... 24 hot might be fine for a 600 or 1000, but it will need to be 28-30 hot on our bikes. I've been through this with the Michelin Power One race tires. I went out at 24 psi and ruined my rear tire in 2 sessions wallowing through turn 8 at Willow. Bumped it up to 26 cold and the problem went away. Just my 0.02

Good idea. I'll try that this weekend.
