[motorcyclistonline] - Victory Motorcycles Unveils New V-Twin Combustion Concept Bike

Zach Ness of the Ness family of custom builders reveals the brand-new concept machine.

Victory is on a tear, and teasing like crazy “concepts” surrounding its new engine. The latest example? We were invited to the uber-cool Union Garage in Brooklyn, New York to get an up-close look at two previously publicized prototypes and one brand new concept machine crafted by Zach Ness of the famous Ness family of custom builders.

Each of the three machines is based on the prototype Victory “Project 156” V-twin campaigned at Pikes Peak this year. The Roland Sands-designed Project 156 racer (named after the 156 turns of Pikes Peak) was one of the top overall performers among the two-wheeled competition.

Revealed in New York was the third motorcycle in line—after the Ers Erbacher “Ignition” concept—to receive the new motor: the Zach Ness “Combustion” Concept. Victory describes the Combustion’s style as “Muscular American.” And that it is. In our eyes the Combustion achieves the often illusive balance of proportion, shape and color to form an iconic custom American muscle bike. And that motor! Starting the bike in the confines of the Union Garage further sealed the American Performance deal with a sound that reminds us of a top fuel dragster.

The latest Victory concepts are the two-wheeled equivalent to the iconic American muscle car. But, Victory product manager Brandon Kraemer explains that the beauty of the motor used in these concepts is its versatility and that we can expect to see some exciting new models that utilize Victory’s newest powerplant in early 2016. No more details were offered, but you can bet that what’s on the horizon is going to flex some serious muscle.
