Modified My Joe Rocket Tank Bag
I recently bought a Joe Rocket Tank Bag and decided to modify the top pocket with the window. I use my smartphone as a GPS so why not make this pocket useful for when I dont know where Im going. I cut the top off and hand sewed a clear vinyl with nylon string. The phone in the picture is the Galaxy S3 so its a big phone. Very happy on how it turned out.

Surprised it didn't already have that feature (my bag does). Good job!

If you see the link it has a very small, useless window. Cant complain, got it for $25.

Use a hot glue gun at the seams to make them waterproof...

Your phone will shut down if exposed to direct sunlight in 5-10 min due to excessive heat. My iPhone did and I gave up.

So I cut it a bit, then redid the stitching so it now fits my phone. I then ran into the problem of overheating, first I just kept the phone zipper open some... well 1 day it wasn't closed enough and 1 big bump and my phone flew out @ 80+... So my solution was to cut holes in the top and bottom of where phone sits. This forces air through the pocket and keeps the phone quite cool, while it is fully zippered closed. |

Nylon is suppose to be some what water resistant but if I start to feel it getting wet inside Ill try the hot glue. Rode in the rain today and it held up well. My phone hasnt had the overheating problem yet, it doesnt seem to get all the hot in there. Ive definitely have felt it get hotter when playing games and have never felt it change much when using the GPS.
