Brake caliper and master cylinder rebuild - parts
I was going to replace the brake pads on my Ninja, but I gave in to my conscience and I'm going to replace all the caliper and master cylinder seals while I'm at it.
I've seen after market kits for these things (for eg. All Balls) but I am leaning towards OEM parts. They're a little harder to get and more expensive, but I think I'd feel better about it. Does anyone have any experience or advice on using OEM vs. aftermarket kits for brake seals? Going by the manual, it looks like I'll be needing these: front caliper: seal 43049-1060 seal 43049-1061 rear caliper: seal 43049-1063 seal 43049-1064 front master cyl: complete piston assembly 43020-1095 snap ring 43022-1010 seal 49016-1044 rear master cyl: complete piston assembly 43020-1057 banjo washer 49091-0001 Anything else I've missed? Thanks! |

My hubby ordered the seals for my front caliper from EBC Brakes and they were aftermarket. Working fine. We got a steel brake line, new pads, new seals, and the banjo bolt and all. Oh, and I found out I was missing a retainer clip for the brake pad so we got one of those.
It wasn't as hard as I had feared it was. |

Personally, I never rebuild rear brakes. Still have original pads from showroom-floor 10-years later. I'll flush fluid every 3-years.
I've used All Balls wheel-bearings on all my bikes without any issues. Along with their front-brake kit for Ninja 250R. Four years later with two fluid-flushes, no problems at all. Note that OEM does not mean it is made by Kawasaki. Just supplied by one of their OEM vendors. Which could very well be exact same one who's supplying All Balls as well. |
