Motus, the Alabama-based company looking to enter the highly competitive sport-touring market with an all-American motorcycle, has released this video of the MST, and up-spec MSTR undergoing validation testing in Utah.

These tests include*”30k+ miles of intense durability testing so your Motus will be bullet-proof.” says Motus. “Utah was picked for its range of altitudes, temperatures, surfaces, and big-sky roads where encountering law enforcement is, um…infrequent.”*Powered by what’s essentially half of a Corvette V-Eight engine, the throaty sound of the 1650cc, liquid-cooled*MV4 Baby Block*V-Four (with pushrods!) in the MST and MSTR can be heard throughout the accompanying video, and we think it sounds rather nice.

As we mentioned when the 2014 MST and MSTR were revealed, Motus claims, the MV4 engine produces 160 bhp at 7400 rpm and 120 ft-lb. at 5800 rpm in the MST. If that wasn’t enough, the MSTR claims even more power at 180 bhp at 7800 rpm. The engine redlines at 7800 rpm in the MST while the MSTR can rev a bit higher to 8200 rpm.

Both the MST and MSTR come standard with adjustable Öhlins NIX upside-down forks, removable side cases, a TFT color LCD instrument panel, a center stand, an adjustable windscreen and adjustable handlebars. The MST is equipped with a progressive rear monoshock with remote preload adjuster, while the MSTR has a higher-quality Ohlins TTX rear shock.

The*MST features Brembo calipers, Braking radial master cylinders, and OZ forged aluminum wheels, while the R model sees Brembo monobloc calipers and master cylinder and BST carbon fiber wheels. Both come standard with steel braided lines.
