Motorcycle speakers
Hey Everyone,
I bout an 09 ninja 250 about a month ago and the guy drilled speakers into the fairing. I don't really use it but I kind of don't want to ride around with 2 holes. Anyways... I have a CHP salvage inspection on tuesday and its suppose to rain. My buddy told me if i ride in the rain it would short circuit the bike. What are my options? The speakers are kicker speakers and the amp is under the rear seat.Should I just reschedule? |

You could just disconnect everything from the battery and remove the amp. If you leave the speakers in you can just coil up the wire and secure it using some zip/twisty ties.
Do you have any pics? Would help a lot with options. |

Poor ninja and a waste of Kicker speakers. for now, i'd disconnect the speakers and remove the amp as well as zip tie the wires so they are neat and out of the way. if you are good at DIY stuff, you can use fiberglass to patch the hole. then use body filler to finish up and make everything smooth...thats the route i'd go, unless you have the money to replace the fairings or have some other way to patch that hole up.

Will I have a problem if rain got to the wires? The holes are pretty big without the speakers there. Im not good at DIY stuff so as for now Im going to just leave it. Im just trying bring my motorcycle to the CHP inspection without shorting the ninja. |

as long as you remove the amp and its wires you will be fine. you can either remove or bundle up the speaker wires so it does not get all over the place and cause you problems. you can later remove the speakers and choose how to deal with the ugly holes left in the fairings

Dang that is ghetto rigged! That poor ninja. Ahhh and that lazy ass paint job. I hope you got a good deal on that bike.
Just remove the amp and speakers. But like others have said. Disconnect the battery first. You don't want to blow any fuses or shock yourself. |

I hope you got the bike at a discount, because it came with totaled plastics.
