Calaveras Loop

The ninjette was sitting for a little too long, so I decided to take her out this evening. She started just fine with the choke, but bogged out and stalled if I gave her any gas. Ruh roh. It had been about 2.5 months, which is longer than I prefer to leave her; usually I try to have it sit no more than 3 or 4 weeks between short rides.

I sat on it for 2 or 3 minutes, yet every time I gave it gas, it died. I was about to give up, but then it did catch a little if I gave it full throttle. At that point I was able to get it rolling, and by the end of the street, it was moving pretty well under its own power. A few blocks away, and the choke was off, and all was well.

Took it for a 40 mile loop at speed to burn a bunch of gas at high rpms, including a good run on the highway to get back home. Bike felt great, and I felt guilty for leaving her alone for that long. At the end of the ride she idled cleanly and throttle response was good as new. Filled her back up with some fresh fuel, and I hope I'm more diligent a few weeks from now...

Proof that the Italian tune-up works!! When in doubt, ride it out.
