Tire question

I just finished installing some new tires - Michelin Pilots 110/140. It's the first tire change for the bike (my first bike) and boy does it ride way different. I guess I am still used to my old 501's with 14k on them. My question - is there a break in period for new tires?

just ride carfully for the first 50-150 miles. have to have the rubber meet asphalt a bit before it cozies up

Even on the OEM tires you should ease them in the first 100 miles. Still some slipperiness due to the chemicals in the tires that help them release from the mold - not 100% technically good statement by me, but safety first. Maybe someone else has a better explanation.

Thanks guys I rode around the neighborhood, maybe 20 mph tops and through a few corners the bike felt a little loose.

Theoretically too 100 miles might be more than you need to ease them. Leaning at lower speeds to scrub the edges will work too. I think they go with 100 miles just figuring in that amount of time you will get the tires worked pretty well, straights, lefts, rights. And since riding is so much fun 100 miles comes and goes quick anyway.
