Thanx Button

I would like to suggest that we have a thanx button added to the posts, so that if a member would simply just like to thank another member for their post or thread then they can do so.

This would clear things up as for as the posts in a thread, which would allow someone to more efficiently browse through the thread to read all the helpful and useful responses without having to swim through all the 'thanked' posts.

Just an idea I had, as there are other forums that use this and makes it really nice.

I find those buttons corny. The primary goal of these forums isn't to limit conversation, we're *supposed* to be talking to each other.

Unlikely to implement on this site.

A thanks button would just make us all feel inadequate in comparison to kkim.

I think having superfluous amounts of buttons and titles and counts or whatnot in a forum is corny, but done right it can actually be pretty helpful.

A lot of forums do away with post counts, and people have a rep number under their names instead, which is determined of course by the amount of times someone has clicked on a "this post was helpful" button on one of their authored posts. It gives people incentive to make interesting or helpful posts instead of just adding +1 to their post count.

Also, if you're looking for a specific piece of information and trying to sift through a 40 page thread, being able to sort by "most helpful posts" can greatly increase the likelihood and efficiency of finding what you're looking for.

Just throwing in my 2 pesos. Ninjette is still worlds above some of the more... archaic ninja 250 sites out there.

We don't value interesting or helpful here, all that matters is humor content. The rest is a pleasant byproduct.

For structured technical information, check out the wiki. Its very setup allows each entry to be continually improved until it is a trusted source. I think it's underused on this site, for areas that would make even more sense than in a forum thread format.
