so what did i do to my motor?

SOoooo i normally ride a '03 600RR, but this last summer i was more using the 89 250 i got for a deal, ive done some work to it, pod filters jet kit, complete rework of front suspension, GSXR shock in the rear, mt-75 tires, etc... i normally shift at 12-15K... i use WOT often, i took it for a track day and was out riden a few guys on faster bikes. you get the idea.

i did a vavle adjustment carb tune etc.. about 1-2K miles ago,

im going for a freeway slab to the parnets house, (80 mile trip, sits around 9-10K revs) all is good, on the way home.... it seems to lose some power and be running rough and the temps are abit high. sounds. poppy?

i take it for a few short trips, everything seems fine...

go for a ride to get on the freeway, about 5 miles in it losses power, then dies, and pegs the temp gauge. i cost off the freeway (getting a flat rear tire BTW) but because no one is picking up ther phones, i wiat 10mintues, bike cools off and starts

it sounds like its running on .22lr shells, and goes another 2-3 blocks till it stalls, luckly right as si get to a parking lot, where im allowed to keep it over night.

fastforward to now. bike wont start (turns over) plugs look alright(little white) but theres no puff coming form the exhaust when it cranks, and hte motor sounds as if it doesnt have **** for compression.

its possible the valves are jsut stupid tight... but i set them max loss 1-2K miles ago... but the 89's are supposed to have soft valve seats.... so could that be it?

or is it more likely i burnt a valve? maybe holed a piston?

what your guys guess?

hopefully ill have the head pulled tomorrow!

You ran out of gas.
You couldn't have screwed up the engine by abusing it, right?

He's not going to tell us for a few more days. He really needs that time to work on it some more and try and figure it out, or have the mechanic figure it out.

You sucked in a pigeon thru your pods while riding in 6th gear at 14k rpms and that brought your ninja down. Just like a big Boeing 747 hitting a flock of birds.

LOL, i wish the ninja would have done 14K in 6th gear! lol

ill let the cat out of the beg

it appears that the low side i had did more then bend the levers... like maybe starve of oil for a spilt second....

cause it ate up a conrod bearing! when i pulled the heads, the one cylnder looked really clean around the edges, cyclnder walls were perfect!

so i pulled the cylnders... everything looks normal, it would turn over easy.... hmmm

get ready to spilt the casses, so i go to pull the pistons off the con rods.... oh... look the shiny piston one... has about a 1/8-1/4" of play on the crank.... so the piston was shiny and the noise was caused by the piston smacking the top of the head!

so i didn't crack the case as it was getting close to lunch time... but im pretty sure the crank and con rod are shoot, ill have to check the head and piston, but they might be ok... still debating on if i want to rebuild it... ive got a spare crank and head... so.... just the disposables and the conrod if im lucky

ill upload a video of the play alittle later

ive gotten a lead on a 660 banshee motor.... might go that route instead

Wow... I'm happy that didn't happen to me during my low side. Did the bike turn off once it got laid down?

please work on your grammar. food is very hard to digest when no salt is used. show pics of said bearing when time comes. remember " pics or it didn't happen"

Did I miss the low-side story??

I do find it impossible to believe that a "split" second of starvation ruined a connecting rod bearing. I'm pretty sure someone forgot to check his oil during all those 12-15K shifts and constant WOT.

No worries Harris, I'm sure your bike is fine!
