86 250r parts question

so I picked up this girl for cheap. run s and drives. main problem no front fairings. I've been searching no luck. Any ideas if any other years can fit? I know its probably unlikely. But worth the shot. Work ahead of me. planning on restoring. Got her for 250 $

Only '86-'87 fit, but honestly, you can make anything fit with a big enough hammer.

Welcome to the site, Josh !!!

Yes, that is the very first generation and only those parts will fit.

It is perfect the way it is.

Check this thread for ideas if you decide moving in the direction of nakedness and weight reduction.............of the bike.

Well, you don't live that far away...so getting you that hammer to use wouldn't be that bad!

I've seen the 1st gen Ninja body work come up from time to time...just be patient & keep an eye out.

There, I found these in a 10 minute search. Some parts you need, some you don't, some the same at different prices.

You need to try a bit harder in your search efforts.

Read the bottom, I put extras in. As you stated your looking for the front fairing...look through the links, there's part of one (right side) available, plus the filler panels.

The parts are out there, you just need to dig, & they will appear.

well today my dads friend showed up and convinced my dad to try and convince me to trade him my bike for one of his because aparently he owned the bike at one point or something I didn't really listen. But long story short he wants it for his 2001 ninja 250. which I have seen it and its a clean bike. So I think I'm going to do that. Since it's my dad's friend. And he's willing to do it out right. I'll be back with pics when it's official.

everything worked out brought her home today. Only down side is we got slammed with snow so I'll register her next week.... so in terms of mods flush mounts, turn signal mirrors, fender eliminater. Anything else any ideas would be great money is not a big issue but I would like to keep costs low.

Best bang for your buck modifications that won't eat a hole in your wallet. The last 3 are completely free:
  • fork springs for your weight.
  • 08-12 shock.
  • Pirelli Diablo Scooter tires - stock sizes.
  • Separate the battery box so taking out the carbs is easier.
  • Open up the intake lid for a little quicker response and mid-range.
  • Shim the needles out with 1 or 2 washers.

so nh changed there laws you can't just get a motorcycle license so I'm moving back to mass on the 11th. Just need to get her inspected. Then everything is all set. I'll ride in nh another time then. I'm going to take the msf course in mass in the end of March.

Bought an 86 250 and I pulled off the fairings... Planning on cafe style or street fighter look with it. I may be persuaded to part with the fairings. They're not perfect. I couple small cracks but overall in good shape for a bike that's 20 some year old. I have the full setup with the windshield, both sides, and the center gas cap cover with the lock on it..

IIRC, it was to a family friend, so pass it on if said friend is interested in fixing it up.
