...that and the cargo area is always too hot or too cold, no matter what you do. I spent my whole tour with VF-101 first man out with the cargo and last man back with the cargo on every detachment I went on (11x Key West, 7x El Centro, 2x Puerto Rico).

Yes, laundry. The newer utilities, green BDUs, and the new NWU (affectionately known fleet wide as aquaflage) has them as well.

It really makes no sense NOt to join the military for at least 3-4 years. if you are right out of highschool...you get 100% Tuition assistance, then there is the Post 911 GI bill that covers all of tuition plus monthy and annual stypons to any state school. F/E if you go to U of H here on Oahu you get 1000 dollars for books every year, a 2200 dollar monthly allowance, and 100% of school paid for up to a BS. All this is assuming you served at least 2 years and pass all of your classes.

Presently I am in the USAF from 04-now. I am an Airborn Linguist and have hopes on becoming an officers and fly planes. Wow there is a lot of military presence on this forum

Air Force here as well 85-89. Reserves is a good move. I wish I would have gone to the reserves after I got out. If I would have I would be retired from the reserves by now.

Royal Australian Navy 1977-1985.
HMAS Yarra DE45
HMAS Swan DE50
HMAS Torrens DE53 (COMAUSDESRON 3) and I hated every minute on that ship! Nothing worse than being the squadron leader and having to set the example

7 years in HM service and never heard a shot fired in anger. All we did was float around the Pacific chasing girls and generally having a great time

On ANZAC Day (April 25th) and Remembrance (or Armistice Day, November 11th) I always stop and spare a thought for those men and women serving in harms way.

Pearl Harbor; I visited it twice. First time 1980 for RIMPAC 80 and then in 1981 for some sonar trials the RAN was conducting on the Barking Sands Range. Always had a great time there.

You can't sail past the USS Arizona, which I understand is still a commissioned ship in the USN, salute her and not get a lump in your throat when you think about what lies beneath the water there.

Army: 1967-70 Combat Medic 173Rd ABN Bde. (Sep) Vietnam 69-70. The C-130 was a great plane for jumping--a little tough on long trips--although a hell of a lot quieter than the C-123 and the Chinook.
