Vik,

What is it that you don't like about your present tire and what kind of riding do you do?

For the street the BT 45 will do fine and you won't need to replace it near as often as the BT 003

I was considering putting wider tires on my bike, but I heard that the stock tire size is the best for handling. Is there any benefit of having wider tires?

I believe the only reason to have a wider tire on the ninjette is if the tire you want is not made in the 130/70-17 size IE the BT -090 and BT -016 which aren't available in stock size

KKim right now what i really hate about the tire is when ever i am riding and it is a little windy my bike feels like there is no traction watsoever which i hate. I used to have a bike before i never had a issue

Vic,

My bike came stock with bt45s and I could find very little fault with those tires. I'd highly recommend that tire.

Listed from least grip to most, I would list the tires IRCs (which I assume you have), Dunlops GT501, BS BT45s and Pirelli Sport Demons. For mileage, reverse the order.

With tires, it's all a compromise and priorities. As a general rule...
longer wearing= less grip
faster wearing= more grip

The 140/70 size should work fine with no problems and possibly help with the wind issue you are having.

GL... let us know what you select and how it works out for you.

I went with a 150/60 17 from here which is on sale. The Pilot Power looks nice.

They have a sale and if you use the PROMO code: C063010CI

It brings it down to $99 SHIPPED! I bought a K&N oil filter also for $7.50 while I was at it.

I am not sure about the 150/60/17 because seems to be really wide. i know people have put em on but most of the folks here do not recommend them let me know your feedback once you have em on

If you only ride 2000 miles a year I wouldn't worry about tire wear. Even 003's should last you 2-3 years at that rate.
