Turn Signal Help
Hi Guys, Hope you doing well. I broke one of the turn signal / indicator / blinkers on my bike. They were old ones with filament bulbs in it.
I purchased new one from ebay which are LED ones. I removed the old ones and connected the new ones, hoping that it'd work all fine. However, now when I click left, all four of them turn on. When I click right, it turns on all four of them at same time This is really strange, and not sure why this is happening. I put the old one's back on, and then things work perfectly fine. Left click turns on the left two and right click turns on the right two. So connected the new ones again, and then no matter what I click, it will flash all 4 of them at the same time Please help...!! I had to put in a couple of diodes when I changed my indicator on the dash to led, but the led turn signals just flashed quickly, solved that with an electronic flasher. Just for fun put the leds on one side front and back and see what it does.
Is the bike a North American model or some other country? I could probably look at the electrical diagram and tell you why it’s being back fed. Last futzed with by Jaymod; April 1st, 2022 at 03:41 AM. Reason: Clarification |

Not sure if your wiring is different then my NA model, but the only thing that could cause that should be the way it’s wired to the indicator light in the dash, or the handle bar switch. Is your relay a two wire or three wire? If it’s two wire you can just jump the wires as the relay is only interrupting the power feed, and if remember correctly those lights have there own cycle. I had to get an adjustable relay to get all my lights to play nice together.

I would pull the bulb from the dash, and report back.. if that solves it you will have to do the diode mod

There's bleeding of current across indicator bulb in dash. Normally with incandescent bulbs, this small amount doesn't do anything. But with more sensitive LED bulbs needing only 9% as much power, this is enough to light up other side. Simple solution is 2 isolation diodes to separate each side. About U$0.10.
https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24500 https://www.ninjette.org/forums/show...3426#post43426 You'll also need ballast-resistors on each bulb or solid-state flasher if you want normal flashing rate. |
