Still Winter

Four days of snow ahead but thinking of Spring. I’ll be 77 when the season starts. May sell off my SV650 as it is a bit heavier than my two ninjettes but maybe keep it and lose one jet. Up until 2017 would do 400+ mile days but now my endurance says 100+ is plenty. For sure not ready to quit!

Stay warm, John. I've spent some time in Hennepin County. It's cold enough for me, and I lived in Chicago for about 17 years. You Minnesotans are made of stern stuff.

The Ninjettes are great; I struggle to justify keeping my SV as well. I only keep it because the going rate for an SV is not enough to warrant the sale.

just a young 71 here, also eagerly awaiting riding season. About 50% done with a valve check on my '08 SS800 Ducati, was too cold in my (unheated) garage to complete it today. This morning with wind chill was 28F ...too darn cold out there.

Welcome, John! I grew up in the suburbs north of Minneapolis. In California now.

Howdy John ! yes it has been the longest winter here in North, Northern California. that I have seen in 5 years of living here... I just had alot of snow
but it has melted off quickly....instead of hanging around for months on end.
so no doubt warmer weather is on it's way ....we just have to be patient !
... I'm 70yrs old and have 3 bikes, 4 if you count my Kids TT250 that she doesn't ride LOL
I understand the Downgrading thoughts your having and to me they are about the bikes weight.... I feel if I can't pick the darn thing up I have no business riding it ! .... and at my age that has really limited my choices of bikes !
my latest bike is a 2001 Honda XR650L that had a seat height of a whopping 37" stock.....(I have a 30"inseam !) but I added a 2" lowering link raised the nuts on the preload and cut and re welded the side stand so it will lean right and
the first ride on it told me I did the right thing ! lighter more powerful and nimble and dirt road worthy so it's right up my alley !
..... with a 16T sprocket on this bike, I expect cruising at 80mph is no problem
.....
as we get older we have to stay within our limitations and we some times
don't realize that we can't do the things we used to do.... so we NEED to do some soul searching to keep us safe !
.....
Bob.
