[motorcycle.com] - Honda Announces 2014 Cruisers, Customs and XR650L

American Honda announced several models returning for the 2014 model year with no changes save for a couple of new color options, but the same pricing as 2013. These 2014 model announcements include Honda’s 750cc Shadow cruisers, its 1300cc customs, the entry-level 250cc Rebel cruiser and the XR650L dual-sport. Those waiting for more substantial changes will have to wait a bit longer for more 2014 Honda announcements.

“These well-established bikes continue to be favorites among riders,” says Bill Savino, Powersports Press Manager. “Motorcycle enthusiasts have purchased hundreds of thousands of these returning models, and this says a lot about their popularity with consumers. With more favorite models added to the 2014 lineup, Honda riders have more options to choose from than ever before for both street and off-road riding. Honda is paving the way in the expansion of the powersports market, and we’re on the gas.”*

The 2014 Honda Fury returns with a new Matte Pearl White paint scheme with a red frame joining the returning black model. Pricing remains the same as 2013, with the base model going for $13,390 and an ABS-equipped version costing $14,390 (the ABS version is however only available in black).

Sharing the same 1312cc V-Twin engine as the Fury are the Sabre, Stateline and Interstate. All three models are returning with the same color combinations and pricing as last year. The Pro-Street-style Sabre will be available in black for $12,250. The Stateline returns with its classically-styled valanced fenders in black as well, with a $12,150 price tag. The touring Interstate model is also returning with a Light Silver Metallic color for $14,240. ABS is available for each model for an additional $1000.

The Fury and the 1300 models will be available in dealerships in January 2014.

The Shadow line comes back for 2014 with just three versions, absent the Shadow RS. The Shadow Phantom gets a new Grey Metallic option, while the black version now has more blacked-out components. The Shadow Aero returns with the same Metallic Silver/Pearl White or black options while the Shadow Spirit 750 also keeps its 2013 color options of black or Ultra Blue Metallic Flame. All three Shadow models start at $8250 (the non-black Spirit 750 and Aero are priced at $8540). ABS is available on the black versions of the Aero and Spirit 750 for an additional $1000.

Expect the 2014 Shadow models to arrive in dealerships in December.

Rounding out the cruiser announcements is the 2014 Rebel which will again be available in Candy Red or Black for $4190. It should arrive in showrooms in November.

And finally, the XR650L dual-sport is also returning with the same red color and graphics as last year and the same $6690 tag. The 2014 XR650L will be available in December.
