Fun Pre-Gen Winter Project Finished

Started off as a 1990 Model which was mechanically sound but cosmetically challenged. All the plastics were either broken or missing, handlebars both bent and tank rusted and dented. Front forks, frame, wheels and seat were all good and the motor was in good condition but with a really bad clutch rattle and a dodgy cam chain tensioner.

Plenty of cheap bits on ebay for these bikes in Australia so replacing the tank, front guard and side panels was easy. All the bling plus the Musarri exhaust system all came from eBay as well.

A valve adjustment was carried out and the Pre-Gen clutch replaced with one from a 2010 model. The original automatic cam chain tensioner was replaced with a Kreiger manual one. The bike now sounds like a sewing machine! To manage the clutch basket nut I made up a clutch basket holder from one of the steel pressure plates and a bit of scrap angle iron. Worked a treat. Hopefully a couple of pictures attached.

No pictures sorry. But all I did was fill it with plastic filler and sand level.
