What's the difference between off-road grips and street grips?

I'm in the market for a set of grips and was wondering what's the difference between the two? Would putting off road grips on my ninja make any difference? Just wondering... These are the grips I have available...

No real difference between off road motorcycle and street motorcycle, if you like how they look and they fit use 'em

I would take close look at ATV grips though as they would not have a throttle tube, mostly thumb throttle operated so i am not sure if inner diameter would be same? Probably most fit but IDK 100%

Most off road grips are closed off at the end, so you'll have to do a little cutting to get the bar ends back on. Other than that no real difference and should fit fine as long as they are for a dirt bike with a twist throttle like subx said.

Go with street grips! There's a reason why they're different for on and off road. Off road grips tend to be much softer to absorb shock, something not really needed on the street. Without even thinking about it, you will instictively grip the soft ones tighter and this will lead to fatigue in your hands a lot quicker. You may have already experienced this problem when wearing thick cold weather gloves. The problem isn't how soft the grip is where the palm rests, but the softness felt under the fingers. The brain tells us "You're not in control, you're not one with the bike". As a result, pure instinct makes us squeeze harder.
