crippled triple

any body here been racing a disabled cylnder 600 {450}?
i kinda parked the 300 this year and been racing the 450, its been a hoot.
just looking to see if there are more of us out there. if you like racing small bikes and you got a 600. i would look into it, cvma has a formula class for it. afm has the 450 triple class and oregon is running some 450 classes.

It’s an out west class. WERA doesn’t recognize it, don’t know about CCS.

CCS wouldbe ok for lightweight GT and GP classes. . But I think a crippled 750 gets you to the three cyl displ limit for those classes.

I don't think CMRA has anywhere they can be run either. I would like to try one otherwise.

I'm racing one. I sold the 300 at the end of last season because of the new 400s.

The 450s are the singular best deal in racing right now, in my opinion. You can buy a track prepped 2008-2016 R6 in the $4500-8000 range that will be ready to ride without needing additional upgrades. The injector bypass harness is $85 from SeriousRnD, and you are ready to go. The ability to choose 450 or 600 is there, and you can sell the bike for minimal depreciation when you're done.

Haha. I know that feeling. I'm just trying to close the gap to the main pack every time I go. What series are you racing in? I've been doing AFM this year. The expert grid is decently sized, but the novice grid has been light at 2-4 bikes.

Oh! Haha. We gridded up together at round 3. Blue/white/red 05 R6, right? I was the yellow/blue R6, #878.

I've been doing 450 SBK, Formula IV, and 450 SS. Formula IV is another one you could consider. It's Race 9, after lunch, but before Formula Pacific. The nice thing about F-IV is that it is a one wave race start.

Are you doing Sonoma? Also, I am hoping that the weather will not be nearly as hot from here on out.

There is no cut off time. Only the experts do qualifying for grid position. Us novices are just gridded up by the staff behind the experts without Saturday qualifying.

Ballpark number is around 70ish. In triple form, it's similar to the SV650. The upside to the triple platform is that you don't have to do all the suspension/front end swaps that the SV guys do. Also, you have an R6 whenever you want so you almost have two bikes.

That's 70-75hp at wheels or about 90@crank. Speed is about in between SV650 and 600 Production bike on track. Yeah, nice thing is suspension and brakes on R6, CBR600RR, ZX6R are so good, no upgrading needed for track use (unless you weigh +200 lbs).

Going to pit with Jason. He's bearded guy with white Aprilia RSV4 (or is it black now?). I may not make it, having some issues with trailer at moment. Gonna work on it tonight and see if I can fix without having new parts handy.

Surprised to see an email notification for this thread. Haha.

I went to Round 1, but missed Round 2 due to work. Unfortunately, they rescheduled R3 to a day I can't make it, so that is the end of the season.

I'm planning to be at Thill Oct 17/18 with PTT and then Chuckwalla Nov 14/15.

Too bad about illness! You OK?

Had good weekend @ track. Blistering +110F!!! Cooked and greased one front tyre and had to put spare on. Be back Sept 12-13. Jeff from Reno’s coming with entourage!

Trying to get one CBR250RR ready to go by then. Depends on shipment time from Japan & OZ I guess.
